“Functional 2 star hotel”
Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

With a group of friends we stayed there during the World Cup. I won't let the price we payed affect my review, as all prices were inflated during the WC.

The hotel is in a good safe location. Halfway between the old town and beachfront area. A taxi to either costs about $4 US.

The hotel itself is basic and I'd call it a 2 star. There are no frills and the rooms are fairly small but the beds were comfortable enough and the air con and shower worked which is the main thing.

Breakfast fairly basic but standard enough for this grade of hotel,

Overall I'm giving it 3 on the basis you might get it for a good price

On booking and indeed on checking in no warnings were given that the hotel was under rennovation and that theses works affected the guest. On stepping out of the elevator it was obvious, there was sheeting over the stairwell and building dust all over the floor, which had to be trodden in to go to the room.

Breakfast as always in Brasil was buffet style, however in this Hotel when an item runs out it stays run out, I was there neither early or late but those coming after me had very little to choose from, all hot items and fruit depeted just bread and cakes left.

This is definitely oe to avoid.

The hotel is very cheap but nothing else.

The room's air conditioner was very loud and you could not keep it on overnight.
The breakfast was not so good but satisfactory.
They do not have a map of the city , they are not able to suggest a good beach or some restaurant or something regarding the night life.

We had a dinner at the hotel's restaurant, it has probably been the worst dinner of my life.
Bad food and the bottle of wine was ruined.
the waiter left us alone because it was closing.

the neighborhood is good and safe, but you need a taxi to do anything, beach , dinner, night life and so on.

I stayed at 2 hotels in Salvador during this trip (another across the street), and this one was much better. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The building is much more modern than others nearby and the room much more clean and comfortable. The beds are not very comfortable, but given all the other benefits of staying here (price, comfort) I did not mind. The daily breakfast buffet is also good. The hotel is also in an excellent location, safe and close to beaches.

Bahia do Sol is a very nice hotel, in a central location, close to campo grande, clean, tidy, with a GREAT staff! Breakfast is wonderful and so is the serving personnel!! Many dishes, types of bread, cakes, cereals, juices, a great variety of food. I really loved the place. The rooms were spacious, neat, excellent internet connection, also good food at the hotel restaurant. There are taxi's outside, so whenever you need one, they are there. This hotel has three stars, but it gets a fourth from my side. It is good value for money. I'd stay there definitely once again!!

Room Tip: Any room is okay.

I stayed there for only one night.

The room is large and confortable but with old furniture.

The breakfast was great.

The staff is very helpfull

To go around Salvador is necessary to get a cab. As I had to go do Morro De São Paulo and go to Mercado Modelo to get the boat, the localization was very convenient.

As the hotel was very cheap and I felt safe there, it was a very good option.

Good location in classy neighborhood on ocean street. No beach but nice views. Don't accept any room not facing the ocean. This place has some small, depressing, dark rooms in the back. But rooms facing ocean (or just facing street) are more cheery. This is a SIMPLE place. Only fair on cleanliness, but US $80 per night for free parking and breakfast (not bad) is a good value in Brazil - especially for the neighborhood. Come with low expectations and you will be rewarded. Best if you can speak some portuguese.

Room Tip: INSIST on room facing ocean or streat.
