Outstanding service from all staff and plenty of attention to detail from owners, who run this pousada like clockwork. Thoughtfully designed rooms, nice common areas, complete breakfast. Recommended.

the hotel is very nice and you find it in the neighbourhood Pelourinho in the historic city centre of Salvador in a street where no cars are allowed to drive, which is quite nice

our stay there was very comfortble, rooms were nice and everything is very clean, the breakfast can be served the whole day whereever you want, they have a restaurant and 2 very nice bars (one at the roof-top), a gym and a small but nice pool from which you can see the sea

we had a great time in this familiar hotel where you will feel comfortable by the time of your arrival

stuff is very friendly, service perfect

We stayed here and loved it (after leaving Convento Do Carmo which we could not get out of fast enough).

Excellent location, even has a pool. Great view. Nice rooms. Smiling staff and guests..... Could not have been more of a contrast with aforesaid Convento do Carmo.

I stayed at Casa Amarelindo for 3 nights, including the first night of Carnival 2012.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Gilles and Didier, the owners, live on site and their regular presence around the hotel ensures you feel welcome and are well looked after. All their staff though are also extremely friendly and helpful, and speak good English. I noticed this in every interaction, at reception, at the bar at dinner and at breakfast. For instance they arranged a full day private tour for me to Praia do Forte with an excellent guide at very short notice on the day when Carnival was starting.

The old house has been really well converted to create the hotel, and I loved the decor and the Brazilian artefacts they have furnished it with. My deluxe room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, good quality linen, quality bathroom products and fittings. So much better than the chain hotel I then went onto in Rio.

Breakfast was plentiful and a good mix of high quality fresh things, including a hot dish. Its a rare treat to find a hotel where breakfast is not a buffet.

The location right in the heart of the Pelourinho couldn't be better. Its easy to walk to many places, including several restaurants.

There are a few things that could have been better for me, but none particularly significant. The swimming pool is too small to swim in. The lift/elevator is very slow (but at least there is one). The advertised BBC World (and some other channels I noticed) wasn't present on the TV. Whilst for dinner the restaurant offered a nice change from the standard Bahian fare at nearby restaurants and the standard of cooking was good, I'm think the Brazilian/European fusion idea could be done a bit more imaginatively.

But none of these points spoilt my enjoyment of what is an excellent, friendly, well run small boutique hotel in the bet location in Salvador. As with many of the other reviews, I highly recommend it

Stayed for 2 weeks including all of Carnival. The location is perfect in probably the best street of the Pelourhino that for the most time is pedestrian only. We were in a room on the bay side, that even during the wild times of Carnival was quiet at night. There is a lovely pool to escape from the heat if needed and a beautifully decorated courtyard restaurant and bar. Our room rate included a massive breakfast…so no need for lunch. The restaurant served extremely high quality fusion meals that combined French and Bahia cuisine, with a decent variety of wines from South America. They also serve the strongest Caipirinha’s I had in Brazil. But the real strength of this place is the extraordinary dedication of the owners, who really treat you like family. I must say I have travelled the world, and this is my favorite boutique hotel ever. Congratulations to all!

It's definitely a valid experience. Not the best hotel you will find, not the best bedroom, but a very well located, extremely charming petit hotel. The staff is perfect. the restaurant is very good. it's worthy a visit, although I wouldn't stay long.

It’s very hard to fault this hotel as it ticks so many boxes. The French owners, who, although admitting to not being professional hoteliers, seemed to be doing a fantastic job. As the owners live on site, one gets the feeling that they care very much about customer satisfaction and professionalism. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to stay in or to have an evening meal, which we found very good value for the standard served. All in all I would say it is a splendid hotel in the best location with a friendly feel and with a great attention to the finer details. Highly Recommended.
