I am extremely late with writing this review. I stayed at this hotel several months ago. However I have to say that I had a greattt stay here! The hotel is beautiful, staff is amazing and superbug location! In fact, Michael Jackson's video was taken on the block of the hotel across the street from here - which was cool to reflect on!

I was also able to experience a local street party that occurs every Tuesday I believe late at night. At one point during the night it became really loud with music. We rushed out to see what was happening and see all smiles passing by with the odulum playing the drums and all the locals happy and singing! Such a great experience to see!!!

The hotel owners are also so friendly, they greet all of their guests and made me feel welcomed and a home.

Needless to say, when I return to Salvador I will be staying at this hotel.

Thank you staff!!!

We had a wonderful four-night stay in Salvador at the Casa do Amarelindo! The staff and owners are super friendly and they made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in the door. The hotel itself is very clean and perfectly located in the area of the city where most tourists would want to be. The restaurant is also great -- in addition to the complementary breakfast, we had a delicious dinner and some yummy caipirinhas. Thank you C do A!

Quaint and charming with extremely helpful staff. Great complimentary breakfast with strong coffee. Very clean and spacious. Central area to stay in. Free wi-fi. Turn down service. All English speaking staff. Take the car service the hotel arranges. They drop you at the door and help with your bags!

A lovely hotel, attractive as soon as you enter. Room was very comfortable and quiet despite facing the street. Very helpful and welcoming reception. Good bar and drinks. We felt no safety concerns walking about the town although, of course, usual rules apply. It was perhaps a little cheeky to refer to our room as having a Pelorinho view given that we had to stand on tiptoe on our balcony to see the tops of a couple of churches and our experience of the restaurant one evening was a disaster with an hour wait for 2 steaks (although the nice waiter was genuinely sorry that we weren't happy - almost in tears in fact)! Try to go to the Folkloric ballet that performs at a nearby theatre (ask reception) Its a wonderful one hour show that runs most evenings. 20 Reals a ticket and well worth it for the exuberance, energy and humour of the performances charting the evolution of dances originating from the time of the slave trade.

Room Tip: be wary of deals that offer "pelo" view - ours was non-existent.

We had a wonderful three nights at the Amarelindo in late August. The hotel is located in the historic center. Our room was lovely, with a private balcony overlooking the Port. The bathroom was spacious with a large Jacuzzi tub/shower. The breakfasts - included in the room price - were superb. Fresh juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, bread and good coffee. We also enjoyed eating dinner at the hotel one night and drinking Caipirinhas made with a variety of fresh fruit. Caju was the best. Marcos, the afternoon and evening receptionist, helped us arrange a private city tour with a fantastic guide, gave us helpful sightseeing (the Ballet Folklorico for instance) and restaurant recommendations and even directed us to a perfect nearby beach for body surfing. If you can, try to be in Salvador on a Tuesday night. The music and energy are not to be missed.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are worth the extra price.

We were very happy with the hotel - great location and charming property in the middle of the Pelo neighborhood, attractive building and room, biggest bed we'd ever seen, delicious breakfast, great views over the port from the rooms. Even more, we loved the attentive service - particularly from our charming host Ricardo. Beyond speaking great English, he gave us excellent recommendations of where to go and what to do, both in the nearby area and (when we asked) for other, less explored parts of the city. The hotel went out of their way to be accommodating - for instance, arranging to have breakfast served earlier for us the day we left so we wouldn't leave on an empty stomach. All in all, very much deserving of its star status on here on tripadvisor!
