Owner description: The History Museum at the Castle presents award-winning local history as well as national exhibits through hands-on experiences that engage people of all ages. We're best known for our exceptional interactive Harry Houdini exhibit that reveals the magician's illusions. Don't miss the exclusive Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion interactive exhibit now through February 3, 2013! We also pay tribute to Pulitzer Prize winning author Edna Ferber, and put Sen. Joseph McCarthy into perspective.

This is a good place to spend a couple hours, visiting some nice temporary exhibits and the Houdini area upstairs. Has some stuff to play with and some fun interactive diaplays..

We appreciate your great review! Come back this fall for an exciting exhibit about neon signs. We also have an exhibit about local Black history that is currently traveling through the community. Visit myhistorymuseum.org for its current location.

“History Muesum”

The outside of the castle was very impressive looking. The inside was not as impressive. They really pushed the Harry Houdini exhibit on the 3rd floor. It was the least impressive exhibit in the castle. A neat Alex Rodriquez Appleton Foxes jersey.

We'd like to invite you back for a fresh visit to see our current exhibits, including "Food: Who We Are and What We Eat." Spear a sturgeon in a life-sized shanty, and learn about how food traditions help shape our community. Attend one of our upcoming special programs. Celebrate Houdini's self-professed birthday by learning some of his illusions. We'd like you to have a great experience in our Museum!

“Nice little museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

We loved the museum. The Houdini exhibit was pretty fun. They have interactive exhibits, fun for kids. They can even perform a magic act for friends, and try and escape a jail cell.
The Wisconsin history and Appleton exhibits are pretty neat. We had a nice time here, well worth a trip. It on
Y took an hour to see everything

You can spend as much time as you'd like when you visit. There are hands-on activities on all three floors. Once the kids broke out of jail, did they spear a sturgeon in the "Food" exhibit? Glad your visit was time well spent.

The displays were interesting. The hands on displays about Houdini are fun and engaging. Nicely done.

“Nice way to spend an afternoon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2013 via mobile

My daughter just finished a Houdini book so we decided to check out the museum. She loved it--great hands-on activities. The food exhibit was interesting, too. We were there about 2 hours and didn't see everything.

How cool that you could explore the History Museum at your leisure. Some people zip through in half an hour. Others have stayed from opening until almost closing time. The Museum is designed to allow visitors to take in as much as they choose to explore. Thanks for sharing your experience.
