“Top notch Bed and Breakfast”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

My wife and I have stayed at the Franklin Street Inn and its sister Inn the Franklin Inn on Durkee (the properties are back to back) four times and we plan to stay there many more times in the future. The rooms are immaculately maintained, clean, and well decorated. Both Inns are beautifully restored 19th century homes. Judy is very welcoming and prepares wonderful breakfasts - great coffee and scrumptious entrees. We have always enjoyed our breakfast conversations with the other guests. It is a very pleasant place to stay.

The location for is a perfect staging point for Lawrence University and College Avenue. We often walk from there to concerts and art exhibitions at Lawrence (as a conservatory they always have lots of performances going on), and it is only a couple blocks from the History Museum at the Castle, the Trout Museum of Art and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (all on College Avenue).

Room Tip: There are several rooms set up for couples - our favorites are the Rhodes room and the Shangri-La...

Each room is themed and beautifully decorated. The location is perfect if you are looking for a place close to Lawrence University or College ave. Judy was very personable and a wonderful hostess. The food was delicious and we got the perfect amount. We will definitely stay at the Franklin Street Inn for a nice getaway in Appleton!

Judy is first and foremost a good- no better than good- great cook. Filling breakfasts with variety all four mornings of our stay. And the company was good, in part because Judy is a wonderful hostess. The rooms were perfect, the Inn is an old but well preserved house in a nice neighborhood near Lawrence University. Judy is has a great deal of knowledge about the local history and attractions. The experience couldn't have been better. Best place to stay in Appleton.

Room Tip: The Turret room, where we stayed, has an extra bedroom with double bed off the main room. Nice for a...

We stayed at Franklin St Inn for one of the nights during our Honeymoon. The Turret Room has to be one of the most romantic rooms in the State of WI. Beautifully decorated, two person whirlpool, cute little dinning area in the Turret. Take your sweetie and go!

My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at the Franklin St. Inn. We stayed in the Turret Suite. It's an incredible room and Judy & Ron are great hosts. Breakfast was amazing! The home is located in the heart of Appleton. We enjoyed a very nice bicycle tour of the area, dinner at a local restaurant, shopping on College Ave. I would highly recommend staying at the Franklin St. Inn.

We stayed at the Franklin Street Inn because we came to town to see the group Chicago at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, which is walking distance away. Judy was a very gracious hostess. She gave us a tour of the house. The turret room is incredible. She delivered warm cookies to our room as soon as we were settled in. We stayed in the Lawrence room, which was very cozy. My wife slept better on the "7 layers of comfort" bed than she does at home. The room had a detached bathroom, but is is reserved for the exclusive use of the Lawrence Room residents. His and hers robes were provided. Breakfast was wonderful. We felt well attended to, even though Judy did not make herself intrusive at all. The whole inn is spotlessly clean.

Room Tip: There are price breaks for the level of amenities in the rooms. You get what you pay for. The Turr...

Stayed at the Franklin Street Inn, first time staying at a bed and breakfast. The Inn is very nicely kept and styled in the décor of 1898 when it was built. The owner Judy is very personable and very accommodating. When we checked in we were given homemade banana cake which was delicious. Enjoyed breakfast this morning with quite a spread, vanilla yogurt with fresh bananas and strawberries, followed by a Denver omelet and scrumptious blueberry French toast, orange juice and coffee too. Beautiful dining room with lots of windows, beautiful woodwork and period décor. Judy takes pride in the renovations made to the property as well as the backyard garden painting. Would definitely recommend staying at Franklin Street Inn if you are in the Appleton area.
