“Historic high modern design”
Reviewed 29 August 2014

If you're coming to Brasilia for the design -- and that's why you'd come other than for business -- this is the place to stay. Classic modernist design by the great architect Oscar Niemeyer. It is a rare experience to be able to stay and wander in a classic of modern design. Rooms are austere, but that's in keeping with the design philosophy; if you expect frills and frou-frou this isn't for you. Beds are firm but not hard. Public areas are sleek, in keeping with the design approach. Very good dinner in restaurant Oscar. Breakfast is the typical Brazilian buffet. Attractive pool; small fitness center. The hotel is secluded, some distance from the city center, which makes it a quiet retreat. You'd need a cab to go anywhere, but that's true of much of Brasilia.

Room Tip: Some rooms are distant from the elevator, which is a plus or minus, depending on your point of view...

Dear brasilerio2010,

How pleased we are to know that you had a nice stay with us.
Brasília Palace hotel is, indeed, a good option for those who intend to appreciate the hotel's architecture as much as the city itself.
We are glad that you had a good experience with our restaurant as well.
Thank you for sharing this thoughts with us.
We're looking forwards to seeing you again.

Kind Regards,

We loved this hotel. Probably not for everyone as it has the simple "modern" design. Spartan rooms and the amenities are not what you might expect (e.g. the fitness center is in a separate glass enclosed space in the middle of the turnaround driveway). However, it was really comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was great. We were there during the 2014 World Cup and discovered the teams stay there during matches. Security getting in and out was very tight, but didn't detract from our visit. It is quite a distance away from the monuments, restaurants, and sights, so you'll have to take a cab to everything. However, if you are in town only a day or two, it is well worth it to stay here if you appreciate the architecture and quiet setting.

Wow big Hotel Beautiful grounds and extremely high security but don't get fooled by the name. We expected Grandeur but were extremely disappointed, internet speed very slow unless you are prepared to pay extra, hardest bed I have slept on, paper thin towels and worst of all was breakfast there idea of variety is change of one juice or eliminate one cereal, after 3 nights I was not looking forward to it. Having said that very clean and staff very helpful but I myself would not return to this Hotel that is too Profit driven.

We got to the hotel 9am, for a world cup match, and they wanted to charge us an extra day since check in is noon.
We flew in on a 6am from Rio, so want to sleep a bit and shower beforw the game. 300k miles a year, and never this was done to me. First they said they have no room available yet, then they want extra money. LAURA the reception manager was extremely rude, and completely ruined our view of Brazil happy form of life. Just go somewhere else and save yourself the grief.

Dear Mr. MonoTraveler,

During the World Cup our hotel was experiencing a very busy time and most of our rooms were occupied. It's our policy that the check-in for all our guests starts at 2 pm as specified on your reservation. It wouldn´t be possible to open an exception.
Regarding your complaint about the reception manger, we already sent it to the specific sector for the due measures to be taken.

I booked the hotel so I could enjoy it with my fiancee on Valentine's Day. We absolutely loved it! The hotel staff is friendly and kind, and the hotel itself is an absolute delight! The design is amazing and decoration flawless! Oh, and the breakfast! It's wonderful!! The only downsize for me was the "cable tv", which wasn't cable at all (only a handful of channels and with very bad reception). But other than that, it was an amazing stay!

I stayed in my last business travel in this hotel. Very agreeable atmosphere and good service. Fair prices and pleasant employees. Nice room and good view for the south lake of Brasilia. I recommend to stay there . I'll be back in my next travel to Brasilia.

This hotel was designed by a famous architect in the 1960's and has been maintained as such. It's very impressive architecturally, in a beautiful location overlooking the lake.

The included breakfast was very good and the location outside the Oscar Restaurant was very pleasant and peaceful.

The staff was very attentive and very pleasant

The negatives....

- The room is spartan..clean but spartan.
- The bed was as hard as a rock
- The WiFi was slow and spotty
While there was cable, they had NO stations in English...this made the stay kind of boring and, after 3 days, I was glad to leave.
