The hotel is in a history building in which was first built on the 20's to be a cassino hotel. When the cassinos become outlaw in brasil it was empty and them the minas Gerais government reopened it on the 90's. The building is huge, and really beautiful. It's lobby is really big an luxury and makes you fell back on the old days. The poll is really comfortable and big, with a great view of the lake and a huge garden area, what makes it a really good place to be with the family. The rooms are good (nothing in especial). The food is the only bad point, what is really rare once Araxa is knowing by it great foods! The staff are nice, but they didn't receive the appropriate training. The Spa 'thermas' is really great, with a lot of different bath options, but it's too expansive! The indoor swimming pool is really beautiful. Overall, the structure is from a really good 5 star hotel but the service is up from a 3 star one, but the spa makes the trip worth it!!!

Room Tip: The rooms lake view are the best ones!

Impressive hotel.
I went for a Seminar. The hotel is very well organized for business meetings, events, important ceremonies.
Maybe too big, too much for an holiday.
It's a pity it's not maintained in very good condition.
The garden is really nice, especially for party.
Just one hour before our dinner prepared on the garden it started raining. But the hotel immediately organized with big tents, changed the table and we have been able to have a nice dinner open air.

It has a strange charm given its faded grandeur and its stunning setting but this hotel has seen better days. I cannot fault the service or the quality of the food, which was included in the price. The setting is stunning and the building is a 1940s palace so it is interesting. However it appears to have received little or no investment in the last few years, barely being kept up, with fading and stained carpets, delapidated old furniture in its vast empty and somewhat creepy interiors. It must be difficult and expensive to maintain such an old huge property. The hot water took 10 minutes to appear after opening the taps, in the basement level you could see leaks and exposed pipes everywhere. Needs a lot of TLC to return to its former glory!
