“Oldie but goldie”
Reviewed 14 October 2013

The hotel has clearly seen better days, but its classic architecture and the pleasant and very helpful attitude of the staff kind of make up for it. Located in the middle of downtown Belo Horizonte, the region is noisy and very busy up to 7:30 pm - then it goes dead - except for the noise from the central air-conditioning system that keeps (not very efficiently) the events area cool. The restaurant is very good at the lunchtime buffet (popular with execs from the region) and, in spite of the limited selection, is also quite tasty for dinner - if a bit in the upscale price range. The rooms are huge, the beds good, the cable TV selection is awful and the internet (paid by the way) is the worst feature of the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms in the upper floors facing out - the one's facing in are subject to the unending racket of...

This is an old hotel located in the center of Belo Horizonte. I stayed at one of the top bedroom and even though the bathroom was really old, air conditioning really noisy. The surroudings are not nice as well because they are really crowd during the day. The only good thing is that this hotel is close to a very good shopping center, Shopping Cidade.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the hotel are quieter

I know a lot of hotels in Brazil but this is for sure the worst I ever stayed. Unfortunately I had to stay here because other hotels were overbooked (that already says something: why Dayrell was not?)
The room: very old
Airconditioning: not working
TV: no remote control for the receiver
Cleanliness: when I entered the room I thought that some other guest has already been given the room and that I received the keys by mistake: a used towel laying on the bed together with a plastic bag and an empty icecream cup on the table!
Sorry guys, completely unacceptable for that price, this is a real shame.

I moved to the Dayrell after a horrible stay at the Belo Horizonte Othon Palace please (see my review if considering that hotel). I needed a hotel at that location and was glad I found the Dayrell.

The Dayrell is considered a 4 star hotel but, in my opinion, it’s more of a 3.

I stayed in a “Luxo” apartment and was quite pleased. Take the virtual tour at their website (www.dayrell.com.br) and my room was exactly as shown. The room was spacious and the mattress very good. My room had a bathroom with shower only, which I prefer, and it was spotless clean with a very good shower.

There is a school right across the street and even though I was in one of the top floors facing the street I could still hear the kids screaming early in the morning but it didn’t bother me. I imagine the noise being much greater on lower floors. Ask for an apartment that doesn’t face the street and it should be quiet.

The breakfast buffet is fairly simple but adequate.

Even though the hotel was full, I couldn’t hear any noise coming from the hallway or adjacent apartments.

The fitness center is very small, just one treadmill and one weight machine in a tiny space. The swimming pool is also small but nicely located on the rooftop. There is a small bar on the rooftop also.

The staff was EXTREMELY courteous, friendly and always willing to help with instructions.

Wireless high speed internet available for a fee and it was very fast. One down side is that the hourly rate doesn't work with iPads only the daily rate. I kept losing connection and called for a technician, who was in my room in a matter of minutes, to explain the problem.

All in all, it was a very good stay and I would definitely stay there again if I had to be in that part of the city. Just don’t expect too much. It’s not a 5 star hotel but a very, very decent 3-4.
