Despite the beautiful view and the gentle wind to refresh you from the amazon heat, it is poorly developed as a touristic attraction

It is very nice to come here in the late afternoon and stroll around the grounds - there are lovely views of the river and the colours of the sunset make it all beautiful. Try the Tacaca from the stall by the river!!

We went there by foot, can take very beautiful pictures, the place is very good and peacefull to stay, to make a break for the day. But there is no food there, just a place to relax.

The museum at the fort is a cool and dark refuge from the heat of Belem. We hired an English guide at Amazon Star tourist agency for a city tour and she translated the information displayed for us and explained a bit about the fort's history. The colonial past is not celebrated in Belem where many native people were massacred by the Portuguese at the site where the fort stands. The walls of the fort provide great views of the market and historic parts of Belem for photographs.

A calm and nice place to sit down sipping some coconut water and take a break from the city's noise while enjoying the view of the market area. There is an interesting archaeological museum inside.
