It has a beautiful and huge campus in the margin of the Guamá river (although in the past ten years the stream that flows into the river got really poluted). From the margins of the university, you can see the movement of boats to and fro the nearby islands. The sunset is awesome. Although the university has beautiful amazonian views and hosts huge parties every Thursdays and Fridays (from around 5pm to 12pm, featuring the best of local tecnobrega and forró, depending on the party promoters) it is not that much a touristic spot. It is much more a student place, with good infrastructure for events and only two bars nearby (really simple ones, with funny music though: from brazilian rock, to samba and technobrega). However, although the university is a safe place, it is also surrounded by one of the most violent neighbourhoods of the city and public transport from the nearby bus station stops around 11pm. After that, you gotta take a cab. The best and safer option to check the best of UFPA is to meet local students and ask for guidance about what to do around, so you can peacefully enjoy the view, the parties and/or some beers at the "Bar do Jorge" and "Trapizombas" bars.
