“A great 3 star hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2011

Very good 3 star hotel with some surprises. The rooms are clean, reception staff speak english (mostly). the pool on the roof is fantastic as is the view. The resturant is 4 star...a small buffet but plenty to eat and at $20 rial, a cheap meal. Great eateries within 2 minutes walk as well. Recommended.

This hotel is well located in Foz do Iguaçu next to the local bus terminal. The room we got was a little on the small side, but else good. It seems there is still construction going on in this place. Restaurants and shops are nearby, there is a rooftop pool and the complementary breakfast was really great! The staff was nice and helpful and there was some English speaking staff.

Probably the worst hotel we stayed at during our trip to Sth America & the most expensive. Rooms are very very bland, dark, stuffy, smelt like bleach and had metal shutters over the windows which when opened faced a bessabrick wall.
The 'gym' is not a gym and rather a piece of concrete half outside with 3 bits of rusted equipment that looked like it was from the 70s.
The rooftop pool area was nice though, but unfotunately the views in Foz are less than desirable.
We would definitely not visit Foz again and prefered the Argentinian side of the falls a lot better. The town there was a lot smaller, but very cute, people were friendly & you felt safe in comparison to Foz which looked like it had a lot of hotels built in the 60s that have never been renovated (or were burnt!) and there hasn't been any investment there since.

Room Tip: Stay on the Argentinian side instead. We stayed at Jardine De Iguazu Hotel - a much nicer hotel for...

Stayed here with GAP adventures for 2 nights while touring Iguazu Falls. Nice 3 star hotel with a swimming and wading pool, a gym, a pool table, a common room, a free luggage storage room, late checkout at 12pm, free buffet breakfast with a good selection of food, cheap buffet dinner excluding dessert and generally good service. Unfortunately the place was under construction while we were there and our room on the ground floor was adjacent to the construction site where they were planning an extension to the hotel and also the window was barred shut so we couldn´t really see outside. Also the Best Western hotel adjacent to it was also undergoing construction and this made for a noisy stay. Another thing was expensive Wifi and internet use which made it cheaper to go to an internet cafe instead. However, apart from these minor points, the place was actually quite comfortable and clean with daily room service. It was also close to the central bus depot and laundry services and only about 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Would recommend it to those hoping for an affordable, comfortable stay in this rapidly expanding tourist city that happens to border Argentina and Paraguay.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the construction site

A nice stay for the night whilst travelling through iguacu falls.

The rooms are average in size and a little cold in temperature, but the pool area and breakfast at the hotel were top notch.

A great value option too!

Stayed there with 4 other people a week ago. Hotel del Rey is located right next to another American chain hotel (Best Western I think). We almost stayed at the other hotel after being approached by one of the DOZENS of street advertisers who swarm and jump in front of cars when they stop at red lights or traffic anywhere in Foz. The rates they quoted looked cheaper but when we pulled up, the reception desk wouldn't give us those rates even though the advertising guy was with us! So we went next door to Hotel Del Rey where we had booked rooms. Tip: Make reservations online to get best rates (we used Brazilian site called: booking.com) Parking is across the street from the hotel but safe. Rooms are big compared to standard Brazilian sized rooms but are stark in terms of American "extras" like chairs and a table (2 chairs and a cafe style table), no closets. There is a safe in every room and a mini fridge. We were surprised at the amount of cable channels broadcasting in English (4), German (2), French (1), Arabic (2) plus the normal Brazilian channels dubbing into Portuguese-all on a flat screen tv. Bathroom was HUGE with giant shower (looks like it replaced a bath tub). No matter what sized room you get, you'll end up with 3 twin beds arranged in configurations of : 3 individual or 2 pushed together to form a full sized PLUS the 3rd bed standing alone. You'll only know the full is actually two twins once you feel the edge of the bed between the sheets b/c they make up the bed with full sheets. As noted, the hotel is both under construction (expansion with a whole new wing) AND a hand's length away from the next construction site next door. We were assured by reception that workers only work 9am-5:30pm and what's true is we didn't hear a peep from outside. Insude, another matter b/c the walls and doors seem VERY thin and heavy so slams across the hall sounded like they were inside the room. Noisy guests could also be a problem. But would I stay there again? ABSOLUTELY. Why? 1) Reception really was awesome- spoke English, gave directions etc. with courtesy (and no condescention); 2) Rooms and hotel were SPOTLESS. Ever stayed in a hotel which opened the day you checked in? If not, Hotel Del Rey makes you feel like you are the only guest ever to have stayed in the room. I'm talking about germophobe spotless- most hotels miss like corners and cracks between window mulding. Not these guys. 3) On site restaurant was best meal I'd had in 2 weeks. For an outrageously cheap price of $16.90 reals, you get an all you can eat buffet with 8 salads, fish (yes, actual fish in the land of meat!), meat, soup, pasta, rice, fruit and dessert. The menu changes each night. Breakfast was included and had eggs, sausages+hot dogs and all those little pastries and breads Brazilians are fond of eating in the morning- plus fruit. 4) No hassle check out and no problems with bill afterwards. Usually we stay at chains not boutiques because it's easier to settle problems if there's a "bigger boss" than just the receptionist owner. We had no problems with Del Rey, which was very satisfying.

Room Tip: Book online-rates offered by street guys approaching cars are NOT guaranteed

We stayed here for 2 nights in august to visit the iguacu falls. I
agree with the other reviews - a decent 3 star hotel.

A few negative things to mention - rooms are quite small, bathroom was
a bit cramped, walls could have done with a re-paint, rooms reasonably
modern, water was only Luke warm one day

We booked online and paid £55/night. The board at reception said about
265 Brazilian (£100/night) for a double. For what we paid I think it
was good value.

There were good things to say - the staff were very helpful. Breakfast
was good and we had the dinner buffet one night which I thought was
good value (around £10). Wifi, although you had to pay, was only £2 for 24 hours.
Lobby was very modern. Location was right near the bus stop for
airport, falls and argentina. The pool area upstairs is very relaxing
and has nice showers. The hotel is still undergoing some renovations.

With a few improvements this decent 3 star hotel could easily be a
good 4 star. Would stay here again if the price was the same.
