Checking in here kick started my vacation. Very accommodating staff. Complete with things to do. Alcohol is pricey but everything else is worthy. Made the iguaçu visit from good to great. Really worth coming back to whenever I plan to have another glimpse of the wonderful falls

Nice stay in the hotel as part of a larger group. Room was ok.
The food at the restaurant was amazing.
The pool area was very nice too.
the falls are a short drive away from the hotel. Make sure you visit the Argentinian side also!!

I stayed at Mabu for 5 nights during end of October - beginning of November as part of a larger group attending an international event. The hotel is only a few minutes from the airport and the Iguassu Falls park which is very convenient. It is slightly far from the town although the town itself didn't seem to be much of an attraction.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom is also spacious. The meals are served at some large restaurants, buffet-style. Food was largely diverse, meat-based, but not impressive. Vegetarians and fish-eaters had their choice too. There is also a good choice of tropical fruits and sweets as desserts.
Restaurant and bar prices tend to be higher than a European guest would expect but, again, this is linked to each person's expectations.
The hotel is large, more like a small resort, and made up of at least two large buildings, and it is surrounded by a large park with trees, shrubs and birds which makes it perfect for family vacation. I did not try the pools but many people seemed to be enjoying them.
Staff are generally friendly but it's a pity they speak very little or no English except for the receptions.
The individual guest might feel a little sidelined as the majority of guests come in large groups but there should be some entertaining for them too. For instance, bar area and the veranda feels accommodating for everybody. I also noticed an indoors playground area which makes it suitable for families with little children too.
As I was traveling there for business, I have to admit that the very large conference rooms and the many other meeting rooms were quite good-equipped for different sorts of events and staff was there all the time to help out. Obviously this is a merit of event organizers mostly but not only.
A small note though: when traveling to town, to the Falls, or to/from the airport, make sure you are told the taxi fare upfront otherwise you may end up paying more that you normally would in many European countries for the same distance or travel time.

Room Tip: Rooms in the backyard building are much quieter when compared to those in the main building.

The MABU is a top-class conference hotel, potentially catering in its 600+ rooms for over 1000 delegates. Cannot be faulted as such: the conference faciities, the meeting rooms, audio visual equipments, attention to detail etc are superb, though I would imagine the success of any conference/workshop basically depends on the events organisers themselves. When I was there, 3 major events were runnng simultaneously in the hotel.

The food is Brazilian self-service buffet style (generally tasty and plentiful, including breakfast) served in two or three vast dining halls. Drinks (alcoholic or not) are pretty expensive. The rooms are modern and comfortable, with huge beds and good showers, air conditioning etc. The only thing I felt my room (in the "annex") lacked was an armchair. The staff are friendly and efficient.

I particularly liked the enormous surrounding tropical park, complete with lake, Extremely well cared for. A piece of the surviving Atlantic Forest. I also enjoyed the shallow and warm swimming pools, as well as the sauna facility (the latter remarkably empty of other guests).

On a slightly negative note, I wonder whether this hotel would really suit individual (ie non-conference) foreign travellers, especially those seeking a bit of solitude/peace and quiet etc, or celebrating a special occasion, honeymoon etc. I noted, for example, that the "ordinary" clients were seated in a designated corner of the boisterous dining rooms (nevertheless apparently enjoying themselves). That might not be to everyone´s liking. All in all, if your budget can stretch to it and you seek a modicum of luxury and very tasteful surroundings,I would suggest opting for the Cataratas Tropical Hotel (run by Orient Express) which has the advantage of being almost on top of the Iguassu Falls... presumably your main reason for visiting this part of Brazil.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex (one minute from reception) are newer and very quiet.

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Iguassu Falls. The hotel is very relaxing. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool water is warm and the spa is excellent. We enjoyed a great buffet dinner in the restaurant and breakfast in the mornings. Really nice hotel!

We stayed here for a 3 night break during our family's annual visit to family in Paraguay. After a full day's driving along dusty roads from Asuncion, followed by the traffic and chaos of the Paraguay/Brasil border crossing from Ciudad del Este into Foz, reaching the Mabu resort early evening was particularly welcome and not unlike reaching an oasis after a day in the desert!

Having parked our (by now) extremely dirty MPV, we were efficiently checked in by friendly staff that spoke excellent english and soon had the keys to our rooms (we were a family of 4 with my parents too).
Our adjacent ground floor rooms were luxuriously furnished with everything you could need including a well stocked minibar and effective heating and air conditioning. The shower was also extremely powerful with no shortage of hot water.

That night, we dined in the hotel's huge buffet restaurants and were truly spoiled for choice. The quality and variety of dishes on offer would satisfy even the fussiest eater and the service was unobtrusive and efficient.

Unable to eat or drink any more, we retured to the comfort of our rooms and were soon asleep.

The next day, we explored the resort a bit and were amazed by its sheer size and number of amenities. The swimming pool complex is magnificent however and having forgotten to pack our children's swimming trunks, visited the hotel shop to buy some. Within minutes of trying on a pair, our eldest son (8) disappeared from the shop. Venturing outside and around the corner, all I found was a pile of clothes on the ground as he was already in the pool. Despite Brasil's winter temperature of below 20 degrees C, the pools were heated to around 36 Degrees and were just perfect. We had great difficulty persuading the children to come out, even after a couple of hours.

There is a cafe/bar poolside that serves a variety of drinks, snacks and meals with great service.

Being ideally located on Avenida das Cataratas, the stunning Iguazu falls are only a 15 minute drive away and although our fifth visit to see them, the Mabu resort is an ideal base.

All in all, we couldn't really criticise anything about the hotel. All of the staff, whether cleaners, waiters or customer service were without exception, always friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and the variety of activities and things to do meant we never had a moment's boredom.

When it was time to head back to our home in Paraguay, we were all genuinely sad at leaving this beautiful paradise, and would definately not hesitate to stay again.

It isn't exactly cheap, but also isn't too expensive considering what it offers in terms of facilities and quality. If you (or your children) love simply being in the water, the pools complex here won't disappoint.

I can highly recommend the Mabu Thermas Resort and look forward to going back soon.

Stayed here for a conference with almost 3,000 delegates attending. The conference was held in the hotel, with delegates staying at a number of hotels. My room was comfortable and clean. Wifi worked effectively. Slightly odd that you had to put everything on your room key and couldn't spend cash in the shop or bars, but this must be useful if on a family holiday. The swimming pool was superb - wonderfully warm.
