... an expensive one indeed for normal beings, but worth every cent! this is luxus vacation and adventure at the sametime ... great for a (longer) weekend (3-4 nights are sufficient). 180% recommendation! Service, hospitality and locations are great.

The choice of luxury holtels at the falls boils down basically to the Sheraton, on the Argentina side, or das Cataratas on the Brazilian side. We opted for the latter which probably meant that we saw both sides since and wouldn't otherwise have done so since you would be unlikely to come to the Brazilian side if staying at the Sheraton but would really have to go across to the, much larger, Argentinian side if staying here.
Our room, even though 'superior', was quite small but this wouldn't be a major problem here as most visitors wouldn't be spending long in their rooms with such spectacular sights outside the door.
The formal restaurant was (surprisingly) good value for dinner and the food really very good. The buffet/barbecue was more expensive but the choice and quality of the food was very good.
The breakfast buffet was the best of the whole trip with a fantastic selection of tropical fruits to choose from together with standard hot fare (as well as some wicked pancakes with caramelised bananas!).
Front desk staff efficient rather than friendly. Waiting staff charming and attentive.

Fantastic location, great food, amenities and service. I had done my research so there were no surprises unlike some others who have reviewed this hotel. We arranged our transfers through the hotel and were collected and taken to/from the hotel front door as this is a national park no other vehicles are able to enter. We caught the free hotel shuttle bus to the park entrance and walked to the bird park which is a must visit. Our room (which did not face the falls) was lovely, a good size and housekeeping was great. We ate our meals at the hotel, the BBQ was expensive but the range and quality of food was fantastic and so was the service and the breakfast buffet was amazing. Access to the falls as others have mentioned is great as it gets very crowded during the day so we went early in the morning and late in the afternoon after the park was closed and only hotel guests remained. We spent two nights here to see the bird park, do the boat ride and dam tour and see the Brazilian side of the falls and one night at the Sheraton to see the Argentinian side. Both sides of the falls are amazing but if I had to choose I would take this hotel and the Brazilian side of the falls any day.

The extra price you pay for the hotel indeed makes up the opportunity to have the waterfalls all to yourself after 7 pm and before 9 am. It was just beautiful to be there alone with the animals and nature at its best. The toiletries you get in the bathroom are exceptional and the room was beautiful. The breakfast in the morning had so many options and the fruit section was the best. You will be able to book all your waterfall activities with the hotel. Also recommended is the Bird Park which is a shuttle drive away and the Itaipu dam on the border of Paraguay which is 2 bus rides away.

Stayed at Cataratas twice in 2012 and will go back in 2013. The location is extraordinary, close to the falls, a big plus as guests can remain in the park after the official closing, when everything becomes mysterious and romantic. The hotel itself is very well run with pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable staff. The grounds are lovely, with a large pool. The rooms are well appointed, albeit in a traditional style, and the housekeeping staff is outstanding. I would take half a star off for the restaurants, which are expensive and will usually not change your life for the better. It isn't that they are bad by any stretch, but they don't match the quality of the hotel (or the pricing for that matter). In any event, the entire experience is well worth it.

OMG, this hotel is just incredible. Stayed for 3 nights just after New Year. Service from start to finish top class - from reception, restaurants, bars, Anderson and Marcus of Iguassu Experienes. Organisation of all pre-arranged activities and transfers absolutely perfect. Room, food and location could hardly have been better. Also treatments at spas were superb. And the exclusivity of the falls once the park ended was the icing on the cake. I am a keen photographer and to have uninterrupted views and wildlife in abundance once the maddening crowds had gone.

It is certainly one of the great hotels in the world, in a unique location, perfectly kept, with great service.......but. A hotel of this level should not give the impression of quoting lower rates in order to lure clients and then, at check out time, present bills considerably higher than expected thanks to a series of taxes and surcharges which, although perfectly legitimate, had never been mentioned before. It all begins at the entrance of the Iguaçu Park within which the hotel is located. After a ridiculous fixed taxi fare from the airport that you expect it would take you to the hotel you are left at the Park's gate and asked to pay 20 US$...... as a Park's entrance fee, but for a guest is simply to reach the hotel! Wouldn't it be simpler for the hotel to include that ticket into the room rate and collect it in the guest's behalf? Then, at check out time, comes the surprise of taxes, charges and surcharges that can boost the room rate of an extra 20%. You feel framed and the wonderful experience you had up to that moment turns sour. Wouldn't it be more correct to quote the "final" room rate rather than create such an unpleasant sensation? Because, after all is said, this remains one of the great world hotels, with impeccable service in one of the most spectacular places in the world.
