Belmond Hotel das Cataratas
Ranked #1 of 80 Hotels in Foz do Iguacu
Certificate of Excellence

Hotel das Cataratas is an amazing place to stay within the Iguazu National Park. The pool is a perfect temperature, the buffet dinners have something for even the pickiest of eaters, and the service is great, Everything to see is within walking distance, or if you need a van, you can make arrangements for such, within their scheduled service. There is even an elevator service down to the lower level of falls for handicapped or other, if you don't want to walk down. You are guaranteed to get wet at the lower levels. The animal life is fascinating. Be sure to look out for Coatis, gigantic lizards, monkeys, armadillos, and Agutis.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the falls. The sunsets are lovely.

Best location to visit the magnificent Inguassu Falls. A place that should be on everyone's 'Bucket List'. Rooms available looking over the falls. Hotel has old world charm, with five star facilities. Great pool area, adjacent one of their restaurants which serves excellent food. Try the Brasilian BBQ, better than the A La Carte restaurant. Friendly staff. Use the hotel provided airport transfer service and only fly in to this place using the airport on the Brasilian side to avoid complications.

Room Tip: Some rooms bigger than others. Room with a bath located closer to lobby lift, and more spacious. (ma...

The Hotel is a destination of its own, right in the Brazil side of Iguacu Falls Park. Nice hotel with excellent service, good food and fine facilities. The price is a bit high but worth the cost. Splurge and do it. Although you will get wet, seeing the falls so close by is worth it. I would go back for sure.

Amazing staff (in particular at reception, in the spa and at breakfast), wonderful food (in the a la carte restaurant where we ate during our stay), well-appointed rooms and bathrooms, and beautiful grounds. But of course, you're not really here for the hotel but for the Falls. And they are stunning!

Thanks to the hotel being the only place to stay in the park, once the tour buses depart at 5pm you have a completely undisturbed view with barely a soul in sight. The tour operator in the hotel were really helpful in organizing not only airport transfers (we came from the Argentina) but also excursions. The Macuco boat safari was really fun, but be aware that you'll be completely drenched (like you've had a bath).

I wouldn't bother paying extra to have a room with a view of the Falls - it's not like you'll be sitting in your room much - and be aware that the plumbing is a little delicate. Certainly our room had a problem with a blocked WC. Thankfully maintenance fixed it very quickly so it didn't inconvenience us much.

Fantastic position in the National Park right by the falls. Mixed variety of rooms and few with views over the falls. Good restaurants and friendly staff. Very convenient with exclusive viewings of the falls when the park closes to the public.

This low-rise, medium-sized, colonial-style hotel surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping would be worth a stay on its own. Its an Orient-Express Hotel, which says a lot. Our room and bathroon were smallish, but beautifully appointed and decorated in a tropical motif. (There was lots of attractive Brazilian wood flooring everywhere). The food was excellent in the formal dining room...only OK for breakfast and lunch/dinner buffets in a poolside restaurant. The staff, English-speaking, and always very accommodating, was top notch, including the concierge. One had a sense, though, that they were more well-trained and professional than naturally warm and welcoming.

Here's the other huge plus: this is the only hotel (6 miles) inside the massive Brazilian national park abutting Iguazu Falls. Right across the street, you could see & walk to many of the 359 falls within this Wonder of the World. And before 9am, when the park opened to buses bringing in visitors from the car lot 6 miles away, the paths and catwalks along the Falls are only available to hotel guests. Wow !! If you're a brave soul, hire a car to take you to a nearby, short, rain- forest electric-cart ride to the river and a 20-person rubber raft that goes to..and right underneath.. one of the falls...you'll get drenched !

One final note: we recommend you hire a hotel driver to take you across town to take a guided tour of the masssive Itaipu Dam spanning the Parana River (the Falls are on the Iguazu River). It's a mile across and the largest in the world..so big that it powers all of Paraguay and all of Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro. You'll wear a hard hat and go down inside the plant !

Room Tip: Being inside the national park and not high-rise, we sense that all rooms are both quiet and possess...

Stayed overnight between touring Argentinian side prior to arrival and touring Brazilian side the following day during our South American travels.. Beautiful ,slightly faded hotel in a staggering location.Food excellent and service as expected for an Orient Express hotel.Room first class.Champers with breakfast if you wished.Arrived late from the Argentinian side - having warned the hotel - to find Dinner had been re-reserved for later and our room upgraded for our delays!Booked out of room following mid-day but had use of Spa facilities after exploring Brazilian side to shower and change from sweaty tee shirts etc to fresh attire and a pool-side snack before flying out in the evening. If visiting the Iguacu then stay over at this place.Highly recommended and added to the amazing Iguacu experience.
