“This is the place to stay”

Beautiful 5 star hotel with an exceptional location. We are here to experience Iguazu Falls and Cataratas hotel is the place to stay. The hotel is located inside the national park (on the Brazilian side), less than 10 minutes walk from the falls. We were all by ourselves in the evening after the park closed and until sunset. And the next morning we were all by ourselves from sunrise to the park opened. A magic experience. We also enjoyed the Argentine side, with a complete different perspective of the falls. We recommend to visit both sides. But on the Argentine side we walked in a queue, very crowded indeed.
The hotel was stunning in a colonian style with great restaurants and nice pool and garden area. We reget that we did not spend two nights in this luxury environment.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the falls, but it is not worth paying for, as you will have the real e...

Really awesome place- proper luxury! Expensive but worth it. We were on our honeymoon in South America and decided to splash out in Iguazu. It is inside the national park which means can see the Brazilian side of the falls in 2 hours. They do a complimentary walking tour at 8AM(the brazilian side of the park opens at 9AM)- and you have the falls to yourself. The park also closes at 5, which means another 1.5 hour in the evening on your own. We were comparing this to the Sheraton- very glad we chose Das Cataratas. You have a better view of the falls from the Sheraton. We had lunch there, but it did not seem grand or in any way luxurious. It is also a long walk from the Sheraton to the Devil's throat, and the Argentinian side of the park is open from 8-6, so unless one gets up really early- don't really get the falls to yourself!
We stayed in 3305- had a view of the falls from our room even though it was a basic room. We even got a pair of brand new complementary Havianias each! All in all would thoroughly recommend Das Cataratas

This hotel is pricey. If you want a place to sleep while you do your eco-tour it probably isn't a good value for you. However, there are two things which make it an excellent value: 1) it is the only hotel inside the park -- translate that in to no throngs of tourists interfering with your walks and picture taking before 9a and after 5p -- this can be a big item. 2) The hotel is an attraction in and of itself. By that I mean, this is a luxury resort and is worthy of time enjoying the soul and essence of this magnificent hotel, its decor, service and amenities -- a few hours at the pool will leave you feeling (cool) pampered and relaxed.

This is one of a handful of hotels around the world that deserve the designation "perfect". Start with the location: inside the national park, so when that is closed - late afternoon to early morning - you have the falls to yourself. If you are lucky enough to have a room with a view of the falls, like we did (#1113), you can enjoy the changing appearance of this amazing natural wonder while getting dressed or having your afternoon tea. The building is beautiful and in mint condition, superbly maintained. There is a wonderful garden and a great outdoor pool. Given the hotel's location you can be sure to find peace and quiet, the only noise (apart from the occasional helicopter) being the subdued roar of the falls in the distance. Service was invariably terrific, whether front desk, room service or housekeeping. The tour desk was friendly, helpful and extremely efficient. Two excellent restaurants, great breakfast buffet with all kinds of fruit, cooked breakfast, juices etc.

Room Tip: Try to get a falls view room - adds just that little bit extra.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in March 2014 & wished we could have stayed for longer. It was excellent in every way with lovely rooms, superb food, beautiful grounds, v attentive staff & best of all easy walking distance to the Falls .
Thanks to Tessa from Imagine Latin America for recommending we stay here.
- Rooms - we were in a good size room on the upper floor of the Garden Wing. Very quiet, view over the garden, comfy twin beds, lots of shelf. & hanging space, excellent bathroom & shower. Good room service meal at 1am after late arrival because of flight delays.
- Food - amazing buffet breakfast by the pool. Dinner also outside buffet & excellent. I think booking was needed for this.
- Pool area - beautiful tropical setting with all the service you could wish for.
Lots of animals, birds & butterflies.
- Brazilian side of the Falls - main trail starts just outside the hotel.
We went about 7 30am before the Park opened to visitors at 9am & when there was no one around. Absolute magic!
Just us,the power of all that water & myriads of rainbows.
It was worth the extra expense of this hotel for that once in a lifetime experience. The Park opens at 9am & closes at 5pm.
- Argentinian Falls. Day tour. Takes about an hour to drive there plus the time spent waiting in long border queues. Possible to get close to various parts of the falls but much better total vista from the Brazilian side.
We were there in the high season & it was v crowded with long queues for the trains. Difficult to see very much through all the people crowded onto the viewing points. Had a guide who seemed rather bored by the whole thing.
Our verdict was we would have rather had the day spending extra time at the hotel pool & at the Brazilian Falls.

This is the perfect hotel; if you can afford it, it should be a no brainer whether to stay there or not. All is perfect, the welcome, reception, check-in, courtesy and politeness of the staff etc.. the staff is friendly and they all speak perfect English.

The fact that the hotel is in the NP means that you can visit the waterfalls early in the morning or late in the evening, so before and after the official opening of the park and thus avoid all the crowds and crowds there will be ; the waterfalls are amazing and very popular for good reason.

The hotel is a beauty by itself, the outside and the actual grounds. The rooms are spacious and super clean. The swimming pool and the restaurant attached to it are idyllic (see pictures). Whether you have Bkfast there or dinner it's just so amazing. The Bkfast was included in our fare and it''s something else; very generous and very varied with an amazing spread of exotic fruits.

The gym is very small with a couple of machines, but it is a minor detail when you see how beautiful everything else is. The spa is great too, they offer massages and you can (even without massage) access the steam room and get ready there after your check out in case your flight is late.

The Big minus is that the hotel is in the NP and thus far from town in case you care to visit it and eat there for example. To get to town, you need to hire their car with driver which is very expensive or take a shuttle to the gate of the NP and from there take a cab to town which they told us will be around 50$US; which is steep. So you are going to end up needing to have your 3 or 2 meals at the hotel; the food is great at their restaurants and the Brazilian BBQ was so generous and varied, but it's not cheap at all.

This is possibly one of the best hotels I have ever been to. Having stayed at many top hotels across the world the level of personal service, attention to detail and just all round excellence stands out. Yes this hotel is expensive - but it is worth it. It is located right in the centre of the national park, you can access the walking trails around the Iguazu falls before it opens to the public in the morning (highly recommend this, it's spectacular and actually far better than the most pricey river boat tour), the BBQ evening buffet and breakfast buffet are top notch (and despite what others have said I so not believe they are too expensive, especially given the location and that you have no choice but to eat there - it doesn't feel like some resort hotels that they are charging you extra because they know you can't go elsewhere). However the two things that simply set this part and make this the must-stay hotel for visiting Iguazu are (1) location - nowhere else except maybe the Sheraton (on the Argentina side) do you have such access to and views do the falls and (2) the service - I could go on and on about this but from the small things of addressing us by name wherever we went in the hotel to the big things like completely organising the 24 hours we were there with ideal tours etc that fitted our timetable and maximised our time there.

A must visit, a special place.
