“Amazing location, amazing staff - fantastic place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

We had a wonderful time in Hotel das Cataratas. The location is truly amazing - nothing beats the sunset on the falls, when the park is closed: so worth paying more! Do get up early to visit the Brazilian side of the falls, while the paths are deserted (the park opens at 8am or 9am, I can't remember): plenty of racoon-like monkeys, huge butterflies, amazing insects - and amazing pictures! As soon as the park opens, it gets really hard to take a picture with nobody in it - and to relax.
We had dinner in the bar, as the buffet dinner was very pricey for what it was, and the restaurant had no atmosphere whatsoever - the burgers and club sandwich were really nice (around eur15). Bring your mosquito spray and sit outside on the terrace: you can hear the rumbling of the falls. Breakfast is served on the terrace near the swimming pool and is really nice and varied (go for a morning dip between two cups of tea!).
The swimming pool is really nice, with different depth levels: careful, the step is pretty high between levels! The staff comes around with tasters of their different drinks. Try the iced tea with fruits - amazing!
The room was fantastic, quite big - facing the 'road', but we really didn't hear the numerous tourist buses during the day - literally no traffic at night, as the park is closed. Room service is very efficient - they even folded our pyjamas and arranged our toiletries and toothbrushes in geometrical order! And you get free flipflops!
We were there for 2 nights with our 7-months-old baby, and the staff was so attentive, everybody was very kind and caring.
We so loved the place we didn't even try to go to Foz do Iguaçu, the nearby town.

I have to say this is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had anywhere in the world. We had a falls front huge room in the older section with gorgeous wood ceilings and beautiful double doors opening onto a porch on the first floor. The only thing we could hear was birds singing and the thunder of the Falls. I can't imagine only spending a day here and having to leave because we spend 3 days and 2 nights and I could have done it over again. I stayed with my daughter on a trip of a lifetime touring Brasil after her study abroad experience there. I loved every minute of our stay and I have traveled extensively all over the world and stayed in wonderful, memorable places but this is at the top of my list. It should be on everyone's bucket list!

Room Tip: Splurge and get a balcony front room- you won't regret opening your door to hear the Falls thund...

We were here for a long weekend to experience the falls and the city.....The hotel is just fantastic, in the park where you can see the falls from the hotel. Good service, restaurants, overall a good experience!

I travel alot and honestly this is the best hotel Ive come across. Location of course.....comfortable rooms.....the professionalism of the staff...nothing was too much trouble and they went out of their way to help. Bar service amazing as was the restaurant service. All food and drinks in all areas were excellent. Tour office, guides and drivers also very good.

The heading says it all position perfect. By staying at this hotel there are no national park regulations on when you can walk down to the falls. It is great you can be up at 8am walking and not be run over by crowds as they don't open the park gates to the public before 9 am
The hotel has a rich past and history and can only be described as grandiose with feature fire places and timber floors giving a reflection of the warmth of the property and all the staff
The rooms tend to be small with separate bathrooms. They have comfortable beds but if there is one criticism is they are noisy and we constantly heard coughing coming from the rooms next door and above us. Gotta say women are less romantic when they think other people might be listening!
The restaurant in a detached area near the pool is fabulous and they do magnificent roasts to tempt any of the strongest willed weight watchers. The desserts are so delicious that even me a diabetic broke the rules. Breakfast is top class with a lot of variety as well
The reason you are here is to enjoy the spectacular scenery and falls so in all honesty everywhere else than here is second best when it comes to access and position. We did a day trip to the Argentinian side of falls which gives a totally different perspective of the beauty of the cascade known as the devils throat and well worth the journey. Our group also stopped at a local bird sanctuary and I got dragged from the bus kicking and cursing about going to see bloody birds. I have to say it was probably one of the actual highlights of the Brazilian trip with me having to be dragged back out I was having such an amazing time interacting with the birds and animals. Please do yourself a favour don't miss it as it is unlike any other in the world.
This part of the world is too far to come not to do it the right way and staying at Hotel das Catarates definitely is. Sorry make sure you do the boat trip up into the falls and bring a pancho with you,a deliciously wild and wet experience

Room Tip: Don't worry about the room as the more time outside of it the better the place is. This is one o...

the hotel is in a perfect location, it offers all possible amenities, the entire staff is pampering the guests 24 hours a day, there is nothing in that place which could be done any better - it is the holiday of your dreams

We had not realised until we arrived that this hotel was in the National Park, it was sheer luxury.
I have no words to describe this hotel, that would do it enough justice, it is just phenomenal. To step out the front of this hotel and have the falls facing you was amazing. To be able to wander and explore the grounds and trails after hours, when the park is closed to tourists was sheer luxury.
Dining in the hotel was just exceptional, from breakfast to the meals to the tastes that are served at the pool area......out of this world.
I have visited lots of different countries and by far and wide this blew me away.
Staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for you.
We stayed here for 2 nights, we do wish we had stayed longer but we made the most of our time. It was definitely the highlight of our Brazilian/Argentinian holiday.
I can't recommend this hotel enough.

Room Tip: I can't imagine any room would disappoint.
