“A slice of luxury within the spray of the falls”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2010

Even tho I arrived a bedraggled wet mess from a lengthy delayed flight and hot drive from the ARG airport - I was still treated at check in like royalty.
I was upgraded from a smaller twin room to a deluxe suite in the Garden Wing. Giant bed bigger than king sized - with a fantastic choice of pillows. I had room 2203 on the 2nd floor (note - no lift that I was able to locate - only a big glamorous flight of stairs - be sure to utilise the bell boy for luggage!).
I was given a personal guided tour of the complex which is quite sprawling and one could easily get lost in !!

Room contained complimentary thongs (flip flops to some) and I soon realised this was helpful due to the highly polished floors !!. Comp chocolate, a plug adaptor for computer cord (free wifi), lovely quality (and abundant supply) toiletries, hand written weather forecast supplied, dressing gowns, good air con, large safe with a power socket inside so you can charge laptops etc while they are locked away.

Room service was reasonabley priced and delicious. Breakfast was abundant in the buffet but I think a lot of things required better labeling as I saw a lot of westerners trying to work out what things were !! The service was of high quality.

There was a downpour during breakfast and large umbrellas were immediately made available to all. Free raincoats were handed out to those about to start the walk along the falls.

I wish I had the time to have stayed longer - rather than just the one night. I had made the choice to have one night here and one night in the Sheraton (far inferior). If I was recommending this hotel to friends I would suggest 3 nights to ensure they make the most of the elegance/luxury, the spa and the extremely close proximity to the falls.

My girlfriend and I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Das Cataratas in early December. We had booked their "cataratas adventure rate" which included airport transfers, daily breakfast, 1 dinner at the Brazillian BBQ restaurant & the Macuco Safari Boat tour.

We were very impressed with the property. The initial draw and appeal was the location. We were able to visit the falls from sunrise till 9:30 AM and again after 5:30PM till sunset in total privacy. Hence, we saw a lot of birds and other wildlife (Coati, Tucan, Capybara....) Location aside, the room we had was very spacious (500sqft or so) and was in the recently located garden wing. The service from all the staff was attentive and on part with most five star properties we have stayed with in the past. We booked a private tour of the Argentine side with the hotel. The concierge set it up with the in house tour company and took good care of us. Communication via e-mail was great before our arrival. Housekeeping did a fantastic job twice a day and the laundry services were efficient. The breakfast buffet was very nice and had a very wide selection. The hotel does have a great pool that is very relaxing after visiting the falls. Pool side service was excellent.

The only negatives were the slightly firm mattress and the food does not match the price. A dinner in the formal restaurant without a bottle of wine was easily $200+ US for 2.

Other than the slight issue with dinner, I highly recommend this property.

My husband and I just 4 days at Iguazu (2 at the Sheraton on the Argentinian side) and 2 at this hotel. The hotel is really beautiful and perfectly located. We had a junior suite which was a fantastic room - all the luxuries one would expect from a world class 5* property,

Unlike other reviewers, we found the staff to be really friendly and helpful - all aspects of the service were excellent. My only complaint was that the Food and Beverages seemed very expensive particularly the A La Carte restaurant where we had dinner one evening - the quality of the food was very good but not world class but was priced in the world class range (e.g. dinner for 2 was over USD $300 and we did not 'overdo' it). Still - I would highly recommend this hotel. The value at the pool side restaurant was much better but they only offer a buffet - both at lunch and dinner. You can get snack pool side for lunch which were excellent and just the right thing.

One amazing thing happened while we there - 2 toucans invaded the pool side palm trees several times looking for eggs in the nests of the small black and red birds nesting there. This was unfortunate for the birds but made for great photo ops.

We stayed for two nights and had a fabulous time.
The hotel is lovely, rooms are large and nicely decorated. Pool is also very nice. The pool attendants come round regularly with water, nibbles, fruit on sticks, freshing towels... all really nice touches.
However the reason for staying here is the Falls. You just walk out the door and they are there. Go before the Park opens and you can take some great photos, then again after the park has closed.
The hotel is of course expensive but on reflection it is worth it.
I did find some of the hotel staff unhelpful. When you asked a question you got a one word answer.
I would stay there again .

This hotel is amazing. Very beautiful and right at the falls. In busy times, such as when I went, the queues to get into the park were huge (over 2ks) so staying inside the hotel was a huge plus and I was able to view the park before anyone got there and also take stunning pictures of the sunset and also relax at their lovely pool.

The falls are superb and the hotel is located less than 100 meters from it.
Orient Express has just concluded the renewal of the property and it looks and feels great.

As a brazilian I was surprised with the quality and service.

Highly indicated for groups or couples.
