“Terrible rooms”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

Ask for rooms at tower two. Cause tower one rooms are old. And also ask for the high floors. The rooms dont have good sound isolation. By the way this hotel has the worse window ever.
It hasnt restaurant and beware with house kipping. They are unreliable.

Room Tip: Peça quarto na torre 2. O prejuizo sera menor pois a torre 1, quartos velhos e ar barulhento. Ask...

My stay at Best Western Taroba was quite pleasant. It is abt 5 minutes walk to the Central Bus Terminal, thus easy access to buses to the Cataratas do Iguacu, IGU airport and for goimg to the Argentinian side of the Falls.
Room is okay sized and clean; breakfast was okay.

The hotel with pretty average quality of service and level of accommodation itself. Same like in all other places in Brasil it is a lottery whether you will or will not be successful with English. The location and bus station nearby makes it as a logical place once you plan to visit the waterfalls. If no bus, you can arrange private transportation through the hotel. But beside location all is very basic and definitely the place just to get some sleep quick breakfast and go.

One member of staff spoke decent English and when they did, they were of little help.

We had mosquitoes in our room and asked for the room to be sprayed (every hotel I have ever stayed in offer this service but THEY do not).

Our second night, our bed sheet was dirty and an oversheet was missing. When I called reception to ask for fresh sheets, the only English speaking person asked me "What is a sheet?" I tried to explain in many different ways then gave up.

Breakfast was noisy with lots of greedy, pushy guest and I received insect bites on my legs whilst sat in the dining hall.

The only plus side is the close proximity to the local bus terminal and bus service to Argentina as well as the supermarket.

We ate out in various 'tourist' recommended places but our best recommendation for local food was by a lovely elderly male taxi driver who suggested trying out the food at the supermarket "Muffat". We did and were pleasantly surprised and it was our nicest meal, plus very cheap. Great option if you're on a budget and great to try even if you're not.

Stayed here for Foz and location, otherwise would not stay here again.

BEWARE of the peroxide blonde female taxi driver opposite the hotel. She is a con-artist and took us on a wild goose chase and wasted over an hour of our time. She is all smiles but do not trust her, she lies repeatedly. Just book your transfer with the hotel, it will be cheaper or even better, take a bus from just outside the terminal (5min walk)!

(The storey of the hateful taxi driver if you want to know: Asked to be taken to Argentinian side Iguassu via money exchange (hotel transfers all booked up). She told us there is no money exchange at Argentinian Iguassu (first lie), she told us they accept R$ (second lie). She took us to a rubbish rate money exchange place to change stirling to R$. We then went to Argentinian side and she drove to a random road and said R$50 extra for falls and then told us Argentinian Iguassu do not accept R$. She then took us up a dirt track to see some other taxi drivers who offered us a rubbish rate for R$ to pesos. We declined and went to a money exchange place in Argentina. We finally went to Iguassu and found a money exchange place on site with excellent rates. By this time, she had wasted over an hour of our time and earned an extra R$50. We later found out there is an easy and central bus terminal and this side road was all part of her con....What goes around, comes around!)

Room Tip: Suggest book your return airport transfer on arrival as they get booked up (desk opens 7am).

staffs were so friendly and helpful gave me much better tips over taking a tour, they have the warm friendly attitude of Brazilians which I miss dearly.

the breakfast selections are just amazing! so much to choose and I ended up eating too much.

the cleaning lady folded my towels in the shape of a puppy which I took a picture to share with you all, how sweet is that, i went awwww...

they have also recommended me to a barbeque meat place, which is simply delicious, again, i ate too much. :) I will definately come back to this place.

We flew in mid day and spent one night at the Best Western while touring the Brazilian side of the Falls. It's in a good location close to the bus station and there are plenty of taxis around as well. The room is very basic and the price is great. The bed is not the most comfortable, but being as exhausted as we were after the long day of travel, we slept well. The breakfast in the morning was great. Had everything from meats and cheeses, plenty of breads, as well as a whole spread of pastries and cakes. The staff was helpful, but we found some of them gave us contradictory questions (ie one of the receptionists claimed that there was no time difference between Argentina and Brazil at that time of the year, when in fact there was one hour difference). Alberto was the most helpful the following morning and even arranged for a taxi to take us across the border to our hotel in Argentina.

we stayed there for 3 days.It is located just to the bus station - easily reached by the bus from airport, you can catch bus to the Falls and Paraguay.
Room was good size, clean and with a view over the city. Breakfast was great with a huge choice. Nearby there are restaurants and shops.
