I was astonished by the great service provided here. Our 2 1/2 year old fell terribly sick, with a 102 degree temperature. We were naturally worried. The hotel staff called a pediatrician, and stayed by our side translating back and forth between us and the local pediatrician. They also then facilitated getting the medication necessary for our toddler. They went over and beyond what a normal hotel staff does. In addition, the night before this, our baggage was lost from Rio to Iguacu. The staff was relentless in calling TAM airlines, and making sure our baggage arrived that day at our doorstep. Simply amazing service.

Service aside, the hotel is about 22km away from the falls. There's a bus stop right across the hotel, which charges only a simple R4 each way, and comes every 20 minutes or so. Probably the most convenient way to get to the falls.

Also, I'd recommend going for the breakfast and dinner option. There's nothing in town. Absolutely nothing...the hotel food is far better than what you'll find in town.

Stayed here for one night. It is average at best for the price. The rooms need to be updated, as well as the bathrooms. They are clean though. On the night we stayed, one of the restaurants was closed so the only option we had was a buffet that 56 reais a person, and it didn't look very good. The front desk staff didn't seem to know much about the restaurants in the area, there wasn't really a concierge or anything. I didn't have any problems with service or anything with the hotel but I just think for how much we paid it was not worth it.

We were with a Vantage tour that stayed here. We were coming from Argentina -- do bring in your own wines if you want them -- local prices are high for anything drinkable. The hotel has a walking area behind that you are likely to see various animals/birds. The hot tub was not working, however. Too bad. We had a monsoon at the falls that day and really could have used a hot soak!

On our last of three stops in Brazil (Salvador and Rio first), this was the nicest hotel in which we stayed with 10 of our original 30 tour group. Bathrooms are modern but room furniture could use updating as the decor is formal. Although we called for help on the first night, our air conditioning never worked until the next day. There was a storm that night, so I don't know if the air was affected. A ceiling fan would be nice. Of course, there are never wash clothes in the bathrooms, although there is a bidet and lots of slippery marble on the floor. The restaurant is very nice. There was lovely music over dinner our first night. The buffet had superb dinner and breakfast selections. Didn't use other facilities as we were there to see Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil. It is conveniently located to the city and the Falls and local restaurants will send transportation for dinner guests. A very nice place to stay and to start our 17 hour journey on three planes back to Atlanta.

My family and I stayed at the Bourbon for 3 days in October 2011 as part of a Brazil-wide holiday.
The hotel complex was fantastic from the very welcoming reception when checking in until the moment we checked out at 04.30 a.m on the last day!
The hotel fully deserves its current 5 star (Brazilian) status and I guess had been extensively rennovated in the last 12-18 months or so.
The amenities are simply too many to mention, but two requiring special mention due to thier uniqueness are:
* Extensive 'jungle'/forest walks around the perimeter of the complex. You walk aloong tarmac paths (which are well lit at night) for approximately 45-60 minutes depending on your chosen pace. You will see lizards, parrots etc in the undergrowth and pass by a small 'zoo' or conservation enclosure en route.
* A 'chill' room within the main building where you can simple go and relax with an incense atmosphere and massage if required.
The childrens creche is simply the best I have ever seen anywhere on my travels and the creche staff work tirelessly all day and even accompany the children if required for their evening meals (although I found this rather sad - what were the parents doing?)
The location of the resort is rougly 30 minutes drive from the truly awe inspiring Iguassu National park and waterfalls (275 in total!).
We spent much of our stay either in the Brazilian side of the falls, on the river in the msot exciting boat ride of our lives, or on the Argentinian side of the falls. The falls are the largest in the world with Victoria falls and Niagra rated 2nd and 3rd respectively by the World Heritage Site association listing. Words cannot describe the impact that these falls have on you.....
The Bourbon was a fabulous place to stay with rooms as you would expect for a trully 5 star hotel. The food and service in the a la carte restaurant was out of this world and there was something for everyones taste.
When we came to leave at 04.30 a.m the hotel had even laid on a small, cold breakfast for us to prepare us for the 17 hour flight back to the UK.
Really highly recommended - happy to discuss further by e-mail if required!

The property is huge and well maintained, the staff friendly and the service, good. I was a bit disappointed at the decor in the room and in certain areas - they could definitely use some updating (we stayed back in Feb'09 - I am hoping they have re-furbished since). FANTASTIC breakfast buffet! Certainly filled us up well into noon! We also ordered in a couple of times and food was good. The location is good in terms of distance from the falls. Very good facilities. Overall, we had a decent stay.

Stayed for 3 days at the Bourbon Cataratas Convention Resort this September. Hotel is close to the airport and to the Iguaçu Falls Park (taxi ride is about 20 reais = 12 US$) and has very good facilities (bar, restaurant, large swimming pool, well maintained gardens, natural forest area, fitness center, ecologic trail, sports court and more). The rooms are spacious, with a nice bathroom and amenities; minifridge in the room, as well as a safe. Good breakfast with many different options everyday.
My only complaints are the room's furniture, that look a bit old (not much of a problem) and the TV that had a bad reception during my whole stay (even the local channels).
All in all, a good choice and a pleasant stay.
