“Very Expensive for what you get”
Reviewed 6 November 2012

Stayed here for one night to see the falls from the Brazilian side. The hotel looks great and has a very impressive lobby but it is let down by the price/cost and it also feels in need of face-lift. Rooms were large and comfortable. No free wifi which is stunning given the cost. We arrived quite late from Rio so had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was just a very average buffet despite lots of well dressed staff in suits. Nothing special. Breakfast the next morning was overcrowded (conferences) and again food was just ok. On the positives the hotel is near the falls and airport and very close to the border with Argentina, hence why we picked it. It has a large pool and looked to have decent sports facilities but we had no time to avail of those. Hotel needs to be modernised with its prices and food looked at.

The lobby and bar/restaurant area of the Bourbon are very nice. They gave us drink coupons which we used to have two excellent Caipirhinas.

The bed in the room was not very comfortable, and the room felt a bit grungy.

The dinner buffet ($27USD pp) was mediocre and overpriced, but the free breakfast buffet was solid.

Considering the room was $200USD/night, I couldn't believe they charged us extra for wireless!

Also, there IS NO FREE SHUTTLE to the Falls. We were erroneously told this when we booked the hotel.

On the bright side, it's very safe and was comfortable enough for one night.

Stayed here for three nights on vacation with family. Lobby is quite beautiful and the rooms are clean and spacious. Good location between the falls and the city with quick and easy access to taxis. The pool and grounds are well kept. Walking through the orchard is a nice experience.

One downside is that there is no free WiFi. You also have to pay to use the business centre.

Very good hotel, with many amenities that everyone would enjoy.
They give you a welcome drink (caipirinha).
The bathrooms are just average, with a really old shower, but everything is pretty fine.
Overall, the price is quite high, but you always have something interesting to do there when you finish your visit to the Iguazu Falls (say soccer, archery, running, tennis, swimming, sauna, ping-pong, video games, massages, etc.)

This resort was such a surprise! we stayed there for only one night and we wished we had more time to explore it.The rooms are well appointed, clean and spacious. The property is rather large and the " nature walk" is a must because we did not expect to see the huge garden with citrus trees, vegetables, grapes, emu, deer, peacocks, not to mention the soccer field, tennis courts etc., and all on resort property! We were told to take a taxi to downtown, but who needs that with so much to do inside the resort!?.The two restaurants have very good food and pleasant atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful.

We had a business meeting in Foz do Iguazu; partly at the Bourbon, partly at the Hotel Mabu, and partly at the convention center. This was a very awkward and cumbersome arrangement, requiring bus shuttles that were not frequent enough (sometimes only running every 30 minutes, necessitating taking a taxi), but none of the venues were adequate to house the meeting on their own.

As to the Bourbon, it was OK. As in another review I posted of a Brazilian resort-hotel (Costa do Sauipe), we found many of the same issues. By U.S. standards, this is a very average hotel. The size of the room was nice, but at that point, things were not so great. There are too few electrical outlets for the typical U.S. business traveler to accommodate chargers for two computers, two iPads, two iPhones, etc. The room was not particularly clean. As a matter of fact, on our first night there, we pulled back the sheets only to find a dead fly tucked neatly in the middle. As with Costa do Sauipe, we found a lot of hotel staff who didn't speak English; surprising for a resort that supposedly caters to an international crowd. The gym was totally inadequate for what bills itself as a top resort hotel: a couple of tread mills and a couple of semi-flimsy stationary bikes. No eliptical trainers, no recumbant bikes, no step masters; little in the way of weights and weight machines...really bad. Our room was on the road side of the hotel and it was very noisy. Traffic all day and most of the night that was constantly waking us up. Food was OK, nothing to write home about. Overall, it wasn't worth the price to stay here.

Room Tip: Stay at the Mabu Hotel 1/4 mile down the road. Otherwise, the road side of the hotel is always goi...

Stayed in this Hotel for a day. The hotel is nice and clean. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The hotel staff at the help desk was extremely friendly, and was committed to provide the best experience to their guests. Breakfast was excellent. If you are in iguacu to see the falls, there is no need to take a cab from the hotel which might charge you from 50 to 80 Brazilian reals per person. There is a bus stop just opposite the hotel where you can take a bus to the falls for less than 10 r$ per person. the bus stops every 15 mins and takes just about 20 mins to reach the falls. Great place to stay :)
