My wife and I stayed only one night in Bella Italia while visiting Foz. There were things we liked about this hotel, but our particular room was so noisy at night that it precluded a good experience overall.

There were some very good points about the hotel: we found the staff (and the guests actually) very cheerful and helpful--they were really delightful. The location of the hotel also turned out to be great for us, one block from a modern mall with all the associated conveniences and cinema. Also close to the Falls and airport. The rooms were pretty good and functional with comfortable bed, modern TV, good bathroom facilities etc. Everything worked.

The buffet for breakfast was enormously large and comprehensive, which my wife particularly liked.

Though it's not the greatest concern for a hotel in this price bracket, the decor of the rooms and especially the hotel common areas was a bit dated and cheesy, but it was kind of fun. especially with the over-the-top Christmas decorations adorning the stairs and walls etc.

The major issue for us was that our room was quite loud. Although we were across the hall from the lift ("elevator" for you non- commonwealth sorts) was uncommonly loud and there was low frequency sound & vibration from the lift that was very audible in our rooms. The rooms were generally poorly insulated from noise including street noise and noise from guests in the hall. The lift was the main issue by far though and was disturbing enough to prevent us getting a good nights sleep, so based on our experience I could not say the hotel was any better than average.

We were very pleased with this well-managed hotel. We had a corner room with two balconies. Our room was very expansive with a Jacuzzi. They had an excellent breakfast, especially with all the cheeses and fruit. We often try to avoid the typical hotel restaurant, however the Bella Tavola Restaurant was first-class and the buffet they offered was absolutely great, even better than the breakfast! Both the hotel and restaurant were a great value. We liked the location of the hotel, as it was on Av. Republica Argentina, a main road with a lot of pedestrian and road traffic--fun to watch on the balcony with a glass of wine (after the Jacuzzi). We enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: We were in a corner room on the 3rd floor with two balconies and a Jacuzzi.

Exceptional - Amazing - Unmatched!!!
What terrific staff - what a top hotel for service and care. Strong words but well deserved in every way.

If you want a stay in a hotel that provides all you can want in terms of both service and caring for guests, forget all the others - go to the Hotel Bella Italia - for any number of good reasons.

My wife, sister and I booked over the internet to stay 2 nights at the Bella Italia Hotel in mid October. The contact person was very helpful, friendly and patient and along with booking us into the hotel, organized a brilliant tour for us that included a helicopter flight over the Falls, a speed boat ride to the base of the Falls (what an amazing experience) and lunch – all at a very reasonable price. Great experience!

We received a friendly welcome on our arrival by the reception staff. Right from the onset we were made to feel as if we were more than guests – in effect, that we were cherished family members.

However, we had the misfortune of my sister getting very ill and it is from that point that the staff, from the manager Marcelo Bortoli, to the reception staff (and in particular Rosana and the bell boy, her son Francesco Manneschi) showed their incredible care and support. They went out of their way to assist: thankfully all spoke excellent English making communication much easier as we can’t speak Portuguese.

Rosana organised for us to be taken to the hospital in a hotel car accompanied by a staff member who stayed at the hospital to translate for us. Later Francesco came to the hospital to see how we were and then drove me back and forth including to the airport to organise a change of tickets – ALL LONG AFTER HIS SHIFT OF DUTY HAD FINISHED.

The manager also came to the hospital to check on my sister and then drove us back to the hotel and organized to extend our stay though the hotel was full up. Both he and Rosana checked on my sister’s condition constantly.

This care and concern for guests goes way beyond anything we have ever experienced and I can’t recommend the hotel highly enough. The staff members are exceptional in their customer welfare and went out of their way to ensure that we were looked after.

For anyone thinking about a trip to Iguassu Falls, consider this Hotel – the Bella Italia Hotel – as the first and only hotel to stay in. It may have a 4 star rating but it certainly has a 5 star regard for its clientele.

In conclusion it is worth adding that the rooms were very comfortable, spacious and clean, the dining room had a delightful olde’ world charm and the food and service par excellence.

In rating this hotel I would give it 10 out of 10 without any hesitation. It is without doubt the best care we have ever received in many years of travelling the world.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side away from the main road are quieter but all rooms are good. Staff - reception, restaurant and cleaning - are all great. Very polite, helpful and friendly.

Hotel prices in Foz are not the cheapest, and this place offers good value for money. In parts it is a little dated, but I found our room to be fresh and clean, and the bathroom was fairly modern. The stand out components of this hotel for me were: i) the food - the included breakfast is excellent, as is the evening restaurant; ii) the tour desk - the guy on the desk spoke perfect English and was able to book everything for us - Macuco Safari, helicopter ride, trip to the Argentine side etc, as well as providing more general advice about the area. It's a short walk to the public bus stop from where you take the bus to the national park entrance. It is also across the road from a modern shopping mall and supermarket for anything else which you might need. Very pleased with our stay here.

Hotel is a little dated as was our room, but the best thing was the Italian night dinner. Very good quality food and service by staff made for an enjoyable night.

Also ate at their cafe, good food and reasonably priced.

Easy to get to the falls and airport due to its location, and a shopping centre close by if required (for ATM or supermarket).

Free shuttle to Brazil side airport was provided.
