“Perfect place to relax”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

It's a perfect place to be for a couple of days. You can take different boat trips to ilha grande. You have a pool, air conditioning, and a restaurant.

After a few days I did everything they offered and I move to another hotel on another place.
I recommended it anyway.

I had asked for a room with ocean view and a deck and because of a system error I got a standard room. It was ok but it wasn't what I asked. They gave me a discount for that.

We were at the posada from the 28th Dec to the beginning of January traveling with children and toddlers.

We are a family used to simple and beautiful places, as well as at times to 5 stars hotels. This posada did not meet either the two descriptions..It was simple as in run down...the bathrooms (we occupied 3 bedrooms) were all very old, full of mosquitos), the bedrooms were so simple that reminded us of a youth hostel and the beach was ok.

The menu is very very limited. it has 5 dishes (and that is all) for you to choose from every day. no vegetables included (only green salads).

The management, on the other hand, was very nice and tried their best to make our stay as much comfortable as possible. However kind they were, unfortunately they could not make up for the lack of beauty and comfort.

I would describe it as a good place for students to spend their hold, although am sure you can find simple places more beautiful than this. Please note that the Posada is very near Petrobras oil discharge for ships (i.e. they discharge oil to be refined) as well as on the other side there is Angras' port which is all but beautiful and clean..

Other point to bear in mind is that guests cars are parked right in the yard where most of the rooms look upon, so nice view on the parking!!!

All in all, lovely people but really too simple and not as beautiful as other places are in the Angras area...I would suggest looking for posada's not at ponta este..

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the pousada on february 2006. We had high expectations on Angra and it didn't dissapoint us!

The place is small, it must have about 10 rooms. We stayed on the balcony suite with an amazing view of the beach and islands. The room was comfortable, and more than you would expect from a two-star place, in a third world country.

Granted, the bathroom was small with a little shower, but we had a/c, a fan, tv, a small fridge and a wardrobe to put our clothes in.
The rooms were cleaned every day, no matter the time. You just left the keys in the reception area whenever you were out and they came in and cleaned. Mind you, it rained a lot during our stay, so we stayed in the room a lot, and it was clean nonetheless.

Food: you can't expect to go to a pousada in Brazil and eat as if you were at the Hilton. We had continental breakfast, very good, and the other meals had to be ordered in advance. You got the menu every day in your room and selected whatever you wanted to eat. Dishes are typically brazilian or at least south american.
You can also have lunch in the pousada right next to it, a la carte and very cheap.
This town doesn't have a lot of stores (i think i recall just 1 restaurant which we never visited, 1 pasteleria where you could buy small fried tarts stuffed with shrimp or meat of chicken or even banana and chocolate, and 1 ice cream store). So count out the nightlife if you are staying here.
We also bought our own beer and water and kept it in the hotel fridge for whenever we got thirsty, so not being able to buy food outside the hotel-not true!
The pousada also has a small bar that is open during the day and at night for alcoholic drinks...the caipirinhas were delicious!

The staff is very helpful and friendly, happy to acommodate your every whim (hot water for tea in the afternoon, lounge chairs in the beach at no cost)

The beach is really small and private, the water is amazingly clear and warm. There are 2 kinds of tour every day with a not-so-little boat that comes to the beach every morning, on which, for less than 10 dollars each, you can either tour the small islands or go to isla grande, and visit the amazing beach of Lopes Mendes. you can also book visits on the front desk to other places.

Don't be intimidated. For very little $$$ you will have a great, relaxing time. Don't expect a 5 star quality place, and you may be greately surprised.
