We found the hotel to be very expensive, about $US250 per room per night and for that money it wasn't up to that standard. We wanted to stay there for the view and that didn't disappoint although it rained for 3 of our 4 days there.
It's quite clean but tired, the one computer in the foyer has expensive internet (but cheap in town), there are no plugs in the basin, I had to ask and they took 2 days to get a cheap plastic one, hot water takes ages to come through, the window shutters were not working properly, the balcony furniture was cheap plastic. Breakfast is ok but they charge extra for an espresso. The cable tv has only one English channel and is a cheap old set and the remote control didn't work. The floor tiles in the room and around the pool are in need of re-coating and new grouting. Just maintenance that should be done to warrant the price.
They also turn off the main grid power each night and run their own generator for a few hours, do not get a room at the far end of hotel near the road as the generator is in the rear yard.
I don't expect luxury everywhere I go and have stayed in all kinds of acccom from backpackers to beach resorts. I just like value for money and if they want to charge this much then they should provide the value and quality. Things like internet (which should be Wi-Fi) and espresso should be free when you pay such a high rate.
So, not a bad hotel, great view, probably best in Buzios, (best view is over 'main' beach) just try and get a cheaper rate.
