Casas Brancas Boutique Hotel & Spa
Ranked #5 of 104 Hotels in Armacao dos Buzios
Certificate of Excellence

The location of this property is acceptable, near the ocean , though not a pretty side of the beach in Buzios. And certainly not for suntaning. Quiet most of the time, except for the road passing straight in front of the hotel. If you have a room overlooking the ocean near that road, it is not a nice experience. Room 29 has to be the worst ! near the road. Next door to the gate and stair that connect guests and staff alike from road/ beach to the hotel. At ALL hours ! Nothing is sound proofed in that older building. The plumbing needs serious attention and the noise is just unacceptable for a hotel which positions itself as luxury, especially in its rates. At all hours of day and night, we heard the plumbing every time someone used their bathroom, shower etc... The smell of sewage is also unacceptable based on positioning.
Food & Beverage is good but expensive. Breakfast is great.
Cleanliness not good enough. Hair left every day in the room. Both of us have short hair so we knew it was not ours. Sheets not changed at al in 3 days. No card to ask guests to choose. Default is no sheet changed.
Service needs a lot of work also. Again, it is about positioning. This hotel has not yet got its identity, clearly. It was a secial occasion, a big birthday, and my date of birth was given at checkin as required. Yet, no one picked it up when I arrived the night before my birthday. Nothing. Not even a comment.
On arrival, I was asked 'do you speak portuguese?'. as i do not, there was no further attempt to speak to me at checkin even though I had to pre pay the room, etc...
My traveling companion is brazilian, and once the staff found out, they only spoke with him and did not make eye contact with me at all. Clearly, it is unacceptable to be a foreign traveler in that hotel !
When we left, we left early. 5am. Again, not a mention, not even a thought of offering a box breakfast ( since we already paid for it).
At 5am, with all luggage and belongings, 2 reception staff members looked at us, struggling to open the hotel front door to access our car. Neither of them had the idea to help, to open the door or offer assistance. They did however grill us on our mini b ar consumption for our last night. We did not use mini bar at all , for our stay. Again, priorities need to be redefined at Casa Brancas.
Public areas are nice. Though pool area is very tired already. Needs a face lift and new pool furniture or more pool towel to hide the aging cushions.
Too many walls show signs of wear and tear. Again, unacceptable for a hotel whichy sells itself as luxury.
Spa is ok. Overpriced but ok. Like the rest of the place, the staff do not smile much. at all. Strange for hospitality.
Overall ? not impressed. Not luxury, not 5 star. Much work to do, on software and hardware to get there. Or amend positioning.
The fact that the property has been recognised for its interior decoration by industry Brazil magazines ( the hotel management clearly proud to publicise that detail), does NOT make the property and the experience an exceptional one.
Next time in Buzios, I have found many other places to experiment.

This hotel is a great oceanfront (just across a small street) boutique hotel situated within an easy 5 minute walk to the main tourist shopping area and beaches. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and decorated simply in a chic white motif. Breakfast is included in the rate and the food is fresh and excellent, with fresh bread, pastries, squeezed juices, and deli meats, and American style breakfast with bacon and eggs on request.

My wife and I stayed here and highly recommend this hotel, and we are picky (although not unreasonable!) and detail oriented. Don't hesitate to book this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view, and rooms near the spa are quieter.

Casas Brancas offers really good quality in almost home-like surroundings - small, but luxurious, rooms, library, fire place etc.
The service is impeccable, the restaurant serves really good food, and they have a very good wine menu.
Children are not allowed, and this chic hotel is very quiet and relaxing, and is therefore perfect for a romantic get-away.
The view from the rooms is amazing! You can only wake up happy here...

It was my first time in Brazil and I'm already planning my next vacations there !!!
Beautiful pousada, excellent view and people are so nice ! As it was a last hour planned trip (with my boyfriend) we didn't have the time to make an itinerary, but the crew at the pousada kindly recommended us a lot of things to do, we visited Cabo Frio, another incredible place, I can't believe those beaches, and the best was a boat trip through all the beaches of Buzios, AMOR DE VERAO, I'm missing being there, no worries, on a boat, cool music, we dived into the sea at every beach, we saw sea turtles, highly recommended!!!!

Not really a Pousada, more a luxury hotel in front of the ocean.

The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, staff is friendly and the concierge was very helpful, guiding us to the best beaches and restaurants.

Breakfast is good but will be better if the staff was smiling.

The small swimming pool is good to refresh and the adjoining terrace is the perfect place to admire the sun set.

We didn't tried the restaurants since Buzios has plenty of them.

Room Tip: Ask a room with a terrace

We stayed at the Casas Brancas Hotel from 31July to the 3 August 2012. When we were travelling from Rio to Buzio I thought why did we choose Buzio. We arrived at Casas Brancas and what a warm welcome by the staff at reception. We had should a great time at the Hotel and the Spa. Sitting on the deck and watching the sun set was amazing. The staff at the Hotel was the friendliest and most helpful people I ever met. The rooms were clean a good breakfast was served. I will most definately return for another relaxing holiday and stay at Casas Brancas.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are more quieter

We travelled from Rio, arrived tired , but what an uplifting place. We were greeted by Ricardo, whose badge said trainee, but he was very good. Check in was quick and easy and he showed us through the hotel to the restaraunt for a welcome drink. We stood there in awe at the views over Buzios. My tiredness soon went.He showed us our room(25)-Oh my god!!!!!-what a room, a view to die for, a terrace with 2 loungers. It was perfect for the daily sunset. The room was well furnished with calm colours and decor. The bed was huge. The hotel offers a first night dinner at the restaraunt at half price. This was very welcome and relaxing after travelling. You also get a free 15 minute spa treatment.
The next day we met the ,Sebastian. We met as a guest relations host but left as friends. Many reviews mention him. He is fantastic at enhancing your experience. He will check daily how you are getting on. He will make suggestions for restaraunts and tours.
I found the best thing was just talking and getting to know each other.
We had a daily breakfast. The choice was good and tasty, with no rush at all.
Each evening after dining in Buzios centre, we would return for a last drink or two at Cafe Atlantico. As its winter there, it was quite quiet for drinks. We had a lot of fun an chats with both Damien and Felicia? (a new argentian waitress). Both of these were fantastic hosts, providing great service and even better chats. This really finished off our days on a high note.
We booked a boat tour through Sebastian for a 3 hour trip on a fishing boat. There was just my wife and i. We travelled the bay and went snorkelling and swimming. We had fresh fruit , water and especially made caipirinhas. The boat was run by 2 girls ,the "driver" and Barbara.I had great discussions and great info from Barbara, who also has become a friend.
The hotel has a beach longe called Rocka , at Praia Brava. We went most days and could reserve beach beds there as guests of the hotel. This was a great place for the days.
What a great experience we had in our time in Buzios.

Room Tip: room 25 -awesome
