“Idyllic hotel in perfect location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2011

We have just returned from a 10 day stay at Abracadabra which is situated in an ideal location. The view from the pool and bar area over the bay was just stunning. Our room (number 5) was lovely with a balcony - definitely worth booking a deluxe seaview room. The breakfasts were also excellent with a good selection on offer daily. The best thing about Abracadabra, apart from the location however is the hotel's amazing staff. Natalia and Elizabeth who mainly manage the reception (I hope I have their names correct) speak outstanding fluent English and were very helpful throughout our visit. They arranged all of our surfing/kite sailing/transfers perfectly and made us feel very welcome. We personally cannot think why you would pay more to stay at Casa Brancas next door as we used the spa and restaurants there and also daily their access to the main street. We would recommend Abracadabra wholeheartedly. We have stayed in far more expensive, exclusive 'boutique' hotels and have not felt as well looked after as we were for the last 10 days.

The hotel is very nice and quite. The breakfast in the morning by the pool was great. I did listen to a review that said to stay away from Room #7 as it was very small. Of course we were assigned to room #7 and took 1 night for them to change our room. The second person on duty was ver nice and changed our room free of charge.

Room Tip: I would say #7 is small and #8 had 2 rooms.

Stayed for four nights in a deluxe room with small terrace and view to the bay. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast excellent and the view over the bay from the elevated pool area is excellent. The common areas are decorated with style and in the same manner as its larger 'sister hotel', the Casas Brancas, which is very close-by and whose facilities, including spa ,can be shared. The latter is truly exceptional but of course more expensive. The sharing aspect came in handy as the internet and wi-fi in the Abracadabra was not working for much of our stay so we used the service of the other. One complaint is that the doors to the terrace (room 15) were not well sealed when closed so on the two very windy days there was a significant air current in the bedroom at night. A major disappointment however was that on the weekend nights, Friday and Saturday, during our stay there was a continuous heavy beat from a nearby nightclub from 1am to 8am that made it impossible for a light sleeper to rest. We know that other guests shared this annoyance. When we complained we were told that the owner of the club had been forced to close on several occasions but always found the way to re-open.
In summary an excellent pousada, wonderful location, 5 minutes walk to the center but if you plan on a weekend stay and you value a good night's sleep then check beforehand if the nightclub is functioning.

Room Tip: Deluxe is not luxurious in the US context. Expect basic and spacious with a good view.

We rounded off our Brazilian adventure with a stay in this wonderful boutique hotel with its amazing bungalow rooms and fantastic poolside views over the bay. The staff were incredibly helpful especially when I fell ill. The rooms had great attention to detail and the added bonus of an ensuite complete with sunken bath. Buzios was unlike anywhere we visited in Brazil and definitely not the " real Brazil" but a nice place to chill for a few days! The hotel was situated a short stroll away from the centre of Buzios and all of its shops, bars and restaurants. Great value for money and highly recommended!!

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of a month long honeymoon, spent in Peru, Argentina and Brazil. This was our place to chill out and feel like we were really 'on honeymoon' and it was everything (and more) than we had hoped. Our oom was gorgeous and we had a balcony overlooking the bay (we had only booked a standard room). A fresh fruit platter wasin our room and our welcome drinks were at the bar. We were offered breakfast in bed as a honeymoon treat. The view from the hotel and just gorgeous and town is a 2minute walk away. As you may be aware this is the sister hotel of th 'Casas Brancas' which is the more 'upmarket' of the two. I would suggest that (unless you have money to burn!) there would be no need ot spend £££'s extra to stay at Casas Brabcas. This hotel is beautiful, the rooms are lovely, the breakfast is great (free champagne!) and the staff and all fabulous. It was the perfect place to finsh our honeymoon.

We had a nice moments in buzios and the pousada was according with our expectations. Good location, clean and the staff was very simpatic. Just a short comment: we booked a boat ride with the hotel and payed 30 reais more than the real price. We rent a buggy with the hotel and payed 50 reais more than real price. Conclusion: don't book anything with the hotel, go directly.
The breakfast was a bit poor also.

This pousada is wonderful. My husband and I stayed here for four days prior to a family wedding. We liked it so much we changed our booking for the second week.

If you want peace, quiet, excellent views, friendly staff, tasteful decor then this is the accommodation for you. After a rather stressful time at work, the ability to sit, read, look out over the bay, was just what I needed. This is the perfect destination after a busy sight seeing tour or rio break. The staff here are extremely helpful and the breakfasts are superb! I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough and are looking forward to our remaining 5 days here.
