“just great”

the hotel, the location (close to the center, but not too noisy), the staff with Rennie, the breakfast and tea time... all just great! There is a lot of heart and soul in this hotel. we loved it!
Rennie knows the island well and she's able to give you all kind of recommandations for restaurant or tours.

We had a fabulous time at Aratinga. Rennie is a wonderful host she makes you feel like you're at home. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she is always smiling. She has prepared a folder to help guide you on what do do and where to go whilst on the island. Her team are excellent too. The setting is lively, only a short walk from the centre but it is quiet and relaxing. We had a lot of rain whilst there and she looked after us by removing our wet clothes from the veranda (where they were getting more wet whilst we were out) and having them laundered complimentary for us, knowing we were due to leave the following day. Wi fi connection is not great on the island (especially in the rain ) and some kids cut her phone line so please don't get annoyed if you're struggling to contact her, keep trying you won't regret it. This was the best place on our entire holiday and if we returned would definitely book here again. Thanks for everything Rennie.

What a wonderful place to unwind! Neat and tidy with a beautiful garden and delicious breakfast!
Rennie is extremely careful with every detail. She really makes you feel comfortable and provides you with valuable information over the touristic attractions. Just spend a few minutes browsing her book full of useful tips and then have a chat with her! I'll definitely come back to Aratinga next time I am in Ilha Grande!!!!

We have loved our stay at Aratinga Inn. Rennie and all her employer are really helpful and kind. They have all give their advice for a great stay at the island: the best places to go, the beaches, the best restaurants…. The breakfast was awesome: fresh fruit, variety, homemade food.. Without forgetting the afternoon tea: a piece of cake and a tea to reload your energy….
If we go back to the island, we will stay there again. We truly recommend you!

Room Tip: If you are looking for a romatic trip, the best choice is the chalet.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights on a short trip to Ilha Grande.

Lots of posts reference Rennie's generiosity, but she exceeded our expectations. When I came back sunburnt from an all day hike, Rennie insisted that I take some of her cooling lotion and keep it until I left. She truly wants to make sure that you have a great time on Ilha Grande - throughout the trip, she is eager to make sure you go on the best tours, eat at the best restaurants, and take advantage of all the island has to offer. The day we checked out, Rennie insisted that we visit Lopes Mendes beach, told us to leave our luggage at the B&B and come back in the afternoon to use the guest shower. She even invited us multiple times to afternoon tea, even though we were technically not guests at the B&B anymore.

The facilities are also nice, and the breakfast is delicious, but Rennie's hospitality is what makes this place extraordinary.

We stayed at Aratinga in one of the newly built chalets for two nights over a busy Brazilian holiday weekend. The inside of the chalet was beautifully done with a big gold framed mirror on the wall, lovely bedside tables and nice linen. The bathroom is clean and simple with hot water.

Abraão is a great little village with a real hustle and bustle about it. Aratinga is just up a little on a hill away from the main village (< 5 mins walk) making it a quiet retreat away from the noise of the village. The village has great supermarkets and bakeries so you can get together a lovely picnic lunch each day.

When we arrived at Aratinga were chocolates on the bed - much appreciated after carrying our bags from the boat and up the hill! (Though there are guys with carts that'll transfer your bags for you if you're willing to pay)

Rennie is Australian so being English with embarrassingly bad Portuguese with this was very helpful.

Rennie is full of local knowledge, she has made a great book for each room with recommendations of trips and places to go/restaurants/walks etc. She should publish this, it beats the Lonely Planet hands down!

She is so incredibly kind too, going out of her way to help you with whatever you need. She even lent us her body boards to catch some waves on Lopes Mendes, which was great fun.

The breakfast is lovely with plenty to choose from Granola, fresh fruit, bread, cheese, meat, yogurts, cakes, a whole rang of teas (including classic british tea). It's served in a pretty courtyard in the jungle at the bad of the guesthouse.

She also does afternoon tea and cake between 4-6.30 which is amazing. No where else does that apparently. It's just what you need when you get in from a trip, before you start your evening. The cakes are incredible, peach cake, mango cake, ricotta cake. They are always different.

We felt very at home there and were sad to leave.

A lot of people moan it's hard to contact Rennie but it's not her fault. Since it is an inland the wifi is very patchy and the telephone cables had been cut so she doesn't have a phone. So the best thing to do is book a room through her website.

Room Tip: Book one of the new chalets. They're gorgeous and larger than the main rooms.

We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful oasis after traveling in Chile, Argentina and Brazil and this lovely place was by far the best place we stayed. Rennie is a fantastic host with heaps of information to ensure you make the best of your stay and really takes care of you. The staff are lovely and provide the most wonderful breakfast and greatly received afternoon tea. The rooms are a good size, clean and simple but with everything you could need. We were there whilst it rained pretty much all the time, but Rennie ensured we had plenty to do and we set off for walks with provided umbrellas and sticks for the harder walks :) Top place to stay on Ilha Grande!
