We have been to a couple of beaches, incl Lopez mendes, but Dois Rios is the most beautiful. It is quieter, slightly bigger and there is a little village nearby. There is a guy on the beach selling locally made food. Both the fish and the chicken are delicious! The shortcut is indeed 7.5 km, but it is quite tough, esp if you don't have the right footwear. We took the longer route back, which takes virtually the same time (2 hours). We saw some monkeys whilst we were walking back. It is definitely worth the walk, but take enough water with you, as there is nothing "en route".

The best way to get there is rent a montain bike in the central town.
Its gonna take about 2 hors to get there, and the bike path is really fun. Make sure you'll start early.

The town it self its a super chill town. With a lot of montains sorrounded it, also small houses. Its a small village made for relax.

So beautiful as Lopes Mendes! It´s far fromt the city (7kms) and you can go by walking! Great views along the way! There´s a wonderful beach with two rivers ans and a small town...There´s an old prison that is now a museum!

It feels like a long walk to Dois Rios in the heat and humidity but it's well worth the effort! When you arrive you have to sign in to the village with the security man which makes the whole thing feel really odd, especially as when we were there, we hardly saw another soul! the beach is beautiful and pretty much deserted. On the walk back the sound of Howler monkeys was incredible as it was getting dusky, eery but fab!
