This hotel is in an ideal location in the historic heart of the old town (note, two blocks from where taxis can drop you off), but infinitely better than other locations. The best part was the old style of the house and the thoughtful breakfast which was one of the better ones that we had in Brazil. Marmosets paid a visit too. The check-in went smoothly with lots of recommendations--we ate at all four restaurant recommendations with absolutely the best experiences. For a family there is a back area with a large loft that suited us quite well. Very quiet and nice style. We were thrilled. But there were some mosquitos (it was very rainy) and the door did stick. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel.

Room tip: Each room is very different.

Good location in the historic center, quiet street just 2 blocks from the action. But the room I stayed with my wife was dirty, as well as the poor quality sheets of the deformed bed. The worst was the bathroom, well below minimum space standards. Varanda doors were stucking as well its Windows. TV had a 60s low reception image and extremely low volume. Breakfast was regular. Definetely I´ll never goback to this "pousada".

This is a nice little place in the centre of the old town. It's full of character and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The collective age of the bed, wardrobe and other items in our room must have been in the thousands of years.

A good base to explore the area.

We stayed three nights here. It is located bang in the middle of the old part of town - we would seriously suggest you are better staying at a much cheaper place on the main road coming into the old part, or even along to the beach on the left of Paray. This pousada was not cheap, and you will be walking into this part of town so much during your stay anyway, there is no need to be so central.
We were given a room on the ground floor with a door off the main passage leading to the swimming pond. It was obviously an addition to the main house. It was one of the worst rooms we have ever had - rubbish furniture, sloping awkward ceilings, appalling bed, rickety shelves for a wardrobe/chest of drawers, mouldy dirty finishings, nasty little bathroom, window we couldn't open because of privacy/security, very little usable space. We protested and were immediately moved to a much nicer room upstairs in the main house - this time with old wooden furniture and a nice window.
Breakfast was only adequate. We came down when it opened, but bread only arrived 3/4 hour later.
Oh - and the swimming pond. Filthy. Tiny. Small. Sitting area with dirty seats and tiles and mouldy umbrella. Only saving grace were some orchids in the tatty trees, and a humming-bird!
