“Worthwhile for the amenities alone! (Paraty is beautiful too)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2014

I travelled here to Paraty with my best friend and our Carioca friend from Rio. We stayed for 2 nights. The amenities were great - a small pool with a little waterfall was very refreshing in the mornings and at night. There is also a steam room and a hot tub. The hot tub is not very hot (by North American standards) but that's probably a good thing because Brazil is always pretty warm! Breakfast was the best of our whole trip. Cereal, juices, fruit, sausage pieces and eggs. Lots of bread meat and cheese to choose from. The location of the pousada is not ideal if you are walking to the old downtown area but luckily for us, we had a car. One night we walked back and I think it was 20mins. The hammocks were lovely and tanning on the deck beside the pool was perfect. The room service (linen changing and cleaning) was perfect. The bathroom was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The gardens surrounding the pool and bar area are lush and tropical - providing nice shade in the morning beside the pool. My friend and I did some yoga here in the morning too, it was such a beautiful setting. This was our favourite pousada from our whole trip (which included other pousadas in Buzios and Ilha Grande).

Room Tip: The 3 of us really enjoyed our stay and had a beautiful triple room with one large queen bed and a s...

My husband and I stayed here with my sister and her husband and my younger sister. We had our own rooms and loved our stay. The staff are wonderful and always tried to help. The weather was dreary however the staff would happily accommodate us with drinks in the spa at the end of each day. The property is close to everything with a short 15 minute walk to the historic centre and far enough away for peace and quiet. Fabulous laundry just round the corner. We had a huge room with a spa, lounge area and very comfortable bed. Our room was away from the main reception and breakfast area so I would assume it was somewhat quieter than my sister's room that was above this area. We had no problems with noise at all. There wasn't a cupboard as such to hang clothes so we just left in the suitcase and it wasn't really a problem. We didn't use the spa however its huge and looked very inviting but with one right outside near the pool we didn't feel the need. I found the room a little dark (it was ground floor) but again this is not really an issue - just an observation and probably welcome during the hot months. We did not need aircon during the time we were there. Unfortunately I have to rate the bathroom as below par - especially for such a beautiful place and at the rates for the spa room. First up I have to be clear that the room including the bathroom was very clean - no issues there. The shower leaked which really wasn't a problem as such but you don't expect it in a room such as this - plenty of extra towels provided so could use one to keep the seepage at bay. My main disappointment lies with the water pressure which was barely enough to enable shampoo and conditioner to be properly rinsed. Not very satisfying and something the owners can work on to top off what was otherwise a really wonderful stay. I notice nobody else has commented in this way so perhaps I'm picky or just had a one off bad experience.

Room Tip: Choose a spa room away from the main reception area

Had a great stay at the hotel. Our room was very big and comfortable. The weather was not great, but the staff surely made up for it. Danillo, Fabrizio, and Fabio where hilarious and very accommodating. It is definitely worth while to sit at the bar and say hello to them. The hammocks were very comfy. The Tamirand beach to the south is a must see.

Pousada is lovely. With a walled area from the street with lovely plants and a wonderful covered porch with chairs and hammocks.Additional hammocks in the yard. They have a steam room, jacuzzi, and pool along with a bar and tables and chairs around the pool. Great location minutes from the bus station and a short walk to town. Room had hair dryer and soap. No shampoo provided. Wifi worked well. The Imperial room had a hammock in the room along with a jacuzzi tub and did provide shampoo. The breakfast was very good with scrambles eggs, cakes and other sweet pastries, juices, fruit, meat and cheese. The annex is very nice, but it is a 15 minute walk several blocks away. Staff does not speak English but was very friendly. Room was very nice with refrigerator.Hair dryer provided and plenty of outlets.

Convenient location, a 2 minute walk to the bus station. Stayed for 2 nights and didn’t want to leave! Lovely pool area and hot tub, our room was very spacious and clean. Lots of variety at breakfast and staff very helpful.

The pousada is two mins walk from the bus station which we found very handy with big bags.
The main historic centre is 10-15 mins walk away.
We stayed in the main building; a nice large room with a small gabled annexe and single bed for our daughter which she loved. All very clean. Bring toiletries as only soap provided. you could also do with mosquito spray.
Great brekkie - loads of fresh fruit juice, tropical fruit, cakes etc. The receptionist spoke enough English and was very helpful, organising an early breakfast for us on day of departure. He also made the best, largest and cheapest caipirinha of the trip. As it was winter the steam room (open between 4pm-9pm) came in v handy.

Room Tip: Try and stay in the main building and face towards the garden (Acai and Imperial).

We stayed for 4 nights in the Annex during June and overall were please with the Pousada. The Staff were always very courteous and helpful, the decor in the main Pousada lovely, the breakfast more than ample and the pool, sauna and jacuzzi facilities made even more perfect by the poolside bar facility, ideal for sipping a perfectly made Caipirinha.

The annex itself is only a short walk from the main pousada which granted nice morning stroll before breakfast. On the downside, the room in the annex did not have a wardrobe, bedside tables or a mirror to use when preparing to go out. The annex kitchen provides extremely basic facilities which do not include the facility to cook or make hot drinks, which would be nice to have on an evening.

All in all though, a lovely guesthouse where we felt very welcome.

Room Tip: Stay in the main Pousada if you do not enjoy morning strolls before breakfast.
