“Nice food in a casual ambiance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2013

I had the fish stew with shrimp sauce which was very tasty and full of flavours. The ambiance was very pleasing with a musician singing Brazilian songs with guitar. Caipirinah was also very good!

“+ super delicious fish stews (moquecas), + scenic surrounding”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2012

Located in the beautiful old town area of Paraty the Arpoador is specialized in Brazilian fish stews called Moquecas. Coming to Paraty you shouldn't miss to try them since they are prepared from fresh fish that it is almost melting in your mouth.
The place is quite small so come early (7:30 pm) to catch one of the tables facing the cobblestone alleys. A moqueca is around Reais 45 per person.

“Great old restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2012

We chose this place, a couple of streets back frim the quay and fish market, because it looked old but very fresh and well cared for, and it is a very traditional and well run restaurant. Old clocks and paintings line the walls and the tables evoke the costs verde with white paper on top and sky blue and green cloths underneath in layers. We were wary of the fish stew with coconut milk and palm oil, but went for it and didnt regret, delicious fish and subtle sauce, really a meal with made us feel much better. Again we thought the price quite high but it was a dish for two so it worked out as a delicious meal with good couteous service in beautiful surroundings for a very good price.
