Charming pousada in the historic centre of Paraty. Location to explore Paraty. Rooms are authentic and clean. You can open a window. English is not a problem here at all. Stayed two nights. Nice pool area and ´garden´. Breakfast is good. Free wifi signal not strong in the room. Old safe with keylock.
Weak points of Porto Imperial: the streetnoise and 'the restaurant'. Although the old town of Paraty is more or less car-free, the street next to the pousada is a much used passage for vehicles. In the evening and in the morning (starting 6.30 AM). Bring earplugs if you want to stay in your bed. Or rise and shine like the early birds you hear all around you.
The other weak link is the restaurant. Not inviting at all, more a canteen. In fact it is the breakfast-area. The pousada should consider to upgrade this part of the building. More charm urgently needed here. Meanwhile there are many cosy restaurants, a very good one is Porto (pricecategory $$$) a few houses to your right leaving the pousada.
