This is a simple pousada in an okay location in Paraty - in fact, because it's in a very ordinary road you perhaps experience more reality than much of Paraty offers, in that the town is stunning, a World Heritage Site, and therefore almost unreal to us ordinary folk. I really liked this pousada because it had been the home of a nobleman, cooly set around a courtyard. To begin at the beginning, the entrance hall has a real feel of a colonial house and one wall has images of the original owners. Their courtyard now contains a swimming pool, surrounded by trees and exotic plants. The twin bedded room we shared was small, simple, and had a primitive shower, toilet and basin near the front door. It overlooked foliage and the pool, a real bonus. The communal area on the ground floor, next to the pool, has comfy sofas as well as tables and chairs where breakfast is served. Not a very inspiring breakfast, but okay. Restaurants abound - spoilt for choice! So, worry not...
In Paraty you walk everywhere and the roads and walkways are made up of higgledy piggledy stones, once ballast on Portuguese ships, then off-loaded to line the streets of the developing settlement, as the boats re-stocked with ballast in the form of gold and goods. So, take comfortable walking shoes or properly fitting sandals!

Room Tip: book one overlooking the pool...

The location is great. I liked the building (it brings local atmosphere for the staying and has a nice garden) and people at the reception desk were nice. The breakfast is abundant but forgettable.
On the other hand, wi fi only works at the reception desk and the cleaning service was awful. They left empty cans and cups uncleaned in the room and I found some papers (trash) under the bed when I checked before leaving the room.
Paraty is very beautiful, but if I go again I would try another place to stay.

Hard to fault the rooms or hotel - everything is clean, great pool and bar area and located just a short walk from the town centre. But the wifi access is non-existent in the rooms and still desperately slow in the bar area. This is a major issue if you have business to conduct online, which proved a real headache.

After a month in hostels this was a welcome oasis. Stunning setting, comfy beds, good breaky and a luxurious pool! Staff were helpful although a huge language barrier if you don't speak Portuguese. Wifi sucked, although the hotel presents itself as a retreat and thus being in contactable is almost part of the appeal. Rooms are awesome! We'll worth spending a lil extra to stay here, we loved it!

Stayed for a couple of nights.
The location is very good, a stroll away from the historic centre and the boat pier.
Rooms are basic. The toilet is open and might be awkward if u r staying with friends.
Staff though not proficient in English do comprehend and try to help.
Breakfast is basic but has that home-cooked feel.
Small pool if wanna go for a swim.
Many food and drink options all around and across the road.
The hotel also has a bar if u wanna have a drink or two, but I suggest u go to one of the many cozy bars in the historic centre closeby
