This was the perfect place for my husband and I to stay in Paraty for R&R! The beautiful rooms, garden, pool, and people are so welcoming and relaxing. I knew right when I walked into the room by the smell of essential oils and and the sight of crisp folded white robes on the bed that I was going to like this place. The owner and his workers pay close attention to detail and are extremely helpful with anything you may need. My favorite was having a delicious, fresh breakfast every morning on our own personal patio. I could walk out in the robe provided and feel at home. The large DVD selection for after dinner movie watching in the room was a nice touch as well. Thank you for a great stay! We hope to be back some day!

Room Tip: We stayed in the room rather than the bungalow. We didn't need the size of the bungalow, but th...

When a party was being organised in Paraty, everyone recommended Vivenda. I travel a lot both for business and pleasure so I have high expectations...Vivenda is a gem.
John the owner makes everyone feel like an old pal and he most definitely warrants the positive reviews. Nothing is too much trouble. Advice on restaurants, trips and hanging out in Paraty....that is if you want to leave Vivenda.... You may be tempted to just soak up the sun and chill by the pool.
The bungalows have every comfort and all in spotless white!
Breakfasts are copious and delicious served by your bungalow overlooking a pristine pool and the immaculate tropical garden.
Quite, quite perfect!

Room Tip: All rooms are in a peaceful tropical garden by the pool.

Vivenda was by far the best B&B experience I've ever had. John welcomed us with open arms (literally, with hugs) when we first got there and the whole stay was one pleasant surprise after the next. First and foremost, we arrived two days before our scheduled reservation and John accommodated us anyway. It was all uphill from there, with a wholesome breakfast served at our bungalow doorstep each morning, excellent guidance on to dos in the area, amazing scenery in our backyard, and a super comfortable room. DEFINITELY STAY AT VIVENDA, OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!

First off: a disclaimer. I am an old friend of John, the owner, so my impression of Vivenda Paraty is positively biased by the joy of meeting him again.

But as the tripadvisor community will be able to gather from other reviews, you needen't be an old friend of John's to fell like a very special guest at Vivenda. The bungalows- self contained homes, with a dining area, fully equipped kitchen & porch is tastefully decorated and very, very comfortable. The porches overlook a garden packed with orchids , bromelias and other beautiful native plants. Were Paraty not such a beautiful place with so much to do, you could easily make it a vacation just ot hang out at Vivenda....and so I think it's worth the trip even if the days aren't packed with sun.

If and when you manage to crawl out of your delicious bungalow, you will have a super yummy breakfast on the porch and John will give you tips on the best places to go, eat, hike, sunbathe , swim and appreciate artwork. John was sweet enough to go out of his way to get us a hearty and and fabulous vegan breakfast, ( VEGANS out there, are you listening?), which is a wonderful change from having to carry our own food around and sighing for breakfast other than plain coffee and bread.

As other people have noted,it takes about 15 minutes to get to the historic center: you walk down a pleasant pathway along the riverside and then across a bridge.

With John's magic touch and hospitality, Vivenda Paraty is one of these rare places that make a lovely destination even lovelier. Thanks, John!

After arriving on the busstation from Ilha Grande (see previous review), we took a taxi to Vivenda. They only do fixed rates and at BRL 20 that is a little steep for the distance. However, because of the cobblestones in the center of Paraty this is definitely worth it if you have suitcases.

John gave us a very warm welcome at Vivenda. Our room was large and decorated in a very stylish manner. It was clean and well maintained.

Breakfast was served on the terrace of the room: a big tray with all kinds of excellent breads, fruits, ham, cheese and jams and was of a very high quality. We could even order our own choice of eggs.

The garden is done wonderfully with beautiful tropical plants. The swimming pool looked very inviting but because it was winter in Brazil its temperature was a little too cold for us to swim in .

John is a very nice host and excellent in advising about what trips to take. He booked us a terrific schooner tour for BRL 30 per person which is a great deal for almost an entire day on the water making 4 stops in the bay. John also gave us great tips about restaurants.

We liked Paraty a lot: the coast by schooner or hiking by day and its lively beautiful colonial center by night. Vivenda is about a 10 - 15 minute easy walk to the center. We usually like to stay in the center but in this case we didn't mind at all because the walk was relaxing and Vivenda is a little oasis of rest.

John created his own piece of heaven with Vivenda. His personal touch really makes this an exceptional place and therefor Vivenda is highly recommended!

Everything about this B&B was perfect! The house with its pool and garden is simply beautiful! The room/bungalow is excellent, quite big, beautifully furnished and decorated, clean, quiet... And, the breakfast, on the porch, beyond! There are no words enough to award this facility! A friend of mine recommended it and I've checked reviews; but it is even better then on the pictures. Location is not central, it takes about 10 min of a nice walk along the river to the central part of this beautiful small city; but it is very quiet due to this. John, the owner very helpful and friendly. Warmly recommend it!
