“Over priced ”
Reviewed 1 March 2014 via mobile

I've Stayed here over the years and have noticed they are starting to go beyond their established price point. It's a beautiful classic hotel that is missing many modern basic conveniences including WiFi, dependable pluming and a very outdated health club that which has two residential tried mills. Lower your rates or make some big upgrades...

Dear Sir , fully appreciate your kind comments on our service and value.
Although we are ranked in trip advisor and other websites as the top hotel in the centre of Petrópolis , our prices are kept in average of other hotels of same location.
However , there are obvious improvements to be made .We also take good care to have a fair price - so , thanks again for your comments.
Regarding the wifi , we do have wifi available in all facilities and rooms - for sure we did communicate to you badly about this service which , in fact , is a courtesy of the hotel - not charged to your room as in other hotels.
Kind regards and thank you so much. Appreciate honestly you kind comments.

At a historical property, the scenery is great , and the location also.
Avoid the basement rooms with carpet floor, smells humidity.
And the front rooms can be noisy at weekends.
The pools are really tiny.

I think is overpriced for what is offered.

I love my visit at Solar do Imperio. Rooms are very comfortable. Staff is kind and helpful. As soon as we got there, we were hosted by a friendly lady called Terezinha who told us the history of the hotel plus what the city could offer us. The restaurant experience was awesome! Great desserts and delicious meals well prepared. A extra us for the breakfast. Toasts, omelettes and pancakes were specially made according to our preferences. Price is high, though. But it's worth staying there. I will definitely be back!

This hotel matches it's surroundings perfectly. Location is quiet, beautiful front garden, great valet service. Room is old and stately. Felt like royalty! Breakfast was great and food at restaurant was excellent too!

Very smart building but in so far as the fairly expensive restaurant is concerned the food was average and came cold, twice, after asking them to heat it up, and the service was slow and quite frankly lazy. The atmosphere is also dead, it was like walking into a library. If you are looking for somewhere nice to eat bordeaux restaurant knocks this one flat.

The hotel is close to all the museums, palaces, and within walking distance to the Bohemia brewery. They can arrange for a carriage ride to take you around all the museums and can drop you off at the Imperial Museum. Our room was big, clean, and comfy. The hotel also has a pool, sauna, and spa services. I found the wifi there to be reliable and pretty fast as well. The staff was incredible and made our stay there even better. They go the extra mile to make their guests comfortable and we really appreciated that. We will definitely return and stay there again.

This is the place to stay in Petropolis:
you can walk to all the tourist places and see on your way the old mansions. It is in a very nice and old neighborhood.
The hotel has GIGANTIC rooms with high ceilings, very nice. And connecting rooms (useful with children)
The restaurant in the hotel is very good too. Delicious breakfast.
The stuff doesn't speak much english but is very helpful.
