Nice hostel with comfortable double rooms with balcony in Santa Teresa. The views are amazing over downtown. We had a shared bathroom but it's really only shared with one other room. Breakfast was good, served on a lovely terrace. Prices were high as the world cup was on but normally this would be a good budget option.
Santa Teresa is a nice place but until the tram is up and running again, it is quite hard to get around.

Room Tip: The upstairs private rooms have balconies with great views

We had a great time at Terra Brasilis in the superior suite with a spectacular view over the city!!
It's a really beautiful and clean hostel. The staff is nice but a little bit impersonal and the breakfast could be better.
Nonetheless we had great 5 days at Terra Brasilis in the wonderful neighborhood of Santa Teresa and we definetly would recommend to stay there (necessarily take the superior suite!)

Stayed at Terra Brasilis for 3 nights in Jan, and was very pleased with our choice. Booked superior room with private bathroom, which was possibly the best room in the building with the best balcony view across Lapa. Room was spacious, basic and fairly clean. Most staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was included, was very basic but cannot complain. Would recommend this hotel for the fit and healthy, as it was a long, difficult and steep walk up to get to the hostel, most taxis did not know where it was, although were happy for you to get in and then drive around in circles for fifteen minutes. Note - this is not in easy reach of bars and restaurants, although the view from this hostel will make up for any misgivings.

Room Tip: Book superior room with private bathroom!!

Localizated in the uptown of center of Rio, Terra Brasilis has an privileged location in Santa Tereza that gives an astonishing view, encompasing Bahia de Guanabara; Santos Dumont airport;  the boiling and crazy neighborhood of Lapa;  downtown; Central Station; and Maracana Football Stadium. Thanks to an important investment of capital, this antique house was reloaded and converted in preferred choosing of an wide array of customers, principally tourists but also professionals, artists and businessmen who stay there. Plenty of vivid colors and with eclectic style furniture, here we see the signature intervention of the designer Natalia Moulin. Mattress of good quality, pillows and ceiling fans, that facilitates you a deep rest.Spacius kitchen containing a gas stove, 1 microwave, 1 refrigerator, 2  sinks, 1 wood-fired oven and all the tools of kitchen section. Breakfast is abundant, with personnel very helpful and friendly.Bathrooms, a bit small but always clean (towel is for a free use). Also, there's a patio with clothes line for your laundry.Warm recepcionists (Jerome, Guara, Gabriela and Joaquina) plenty of cordiality and helpfulness under the serious management of an interesting trio of entrepreneurs (Gustavo, Marcelo and Ricardo), posicionates this product as a referent in the growing Rio's hospitality market.

Terra Brasilis is a really nice hostel in the charming Ste Teresa. You have a fantastic view from different levels. Walking up the hill you are amazed from this beautiful surrounding and this stunning view over the city.
The breakfast with fresh juice, fruits and much more is served on one if the big terrasses. A really good start in the day.
The service is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are modern and clean.
The interior design of the place is beautiful.

Things I critizise is
-no laundry service
-not working computer

But all in one it.s a really nice place to stay!
Good to feel home.
