“Casa Amarelo, Santa Teresa”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

We loved our stay at Casa Amarelo! It is a beautiful villa in Santa Teresa, tastefully decorated and an unforgettable view over the city. Within walking distance to Lapa. It felt like home away from home with a beautiful private pool area in a tropical garden. The staff is extremely friendly, kind and helpful. The best rooms are upstairs or in the tower. Highly recommendable as a special place in Rio.

What a nice place! The building is amazing, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and the room was nice and clean. Breakfast was also very good.

Our room was situated in the garden, with banana trees and mango trees and friendly monkeys just outside.

It's far from the beach, but it's worth to stay here, Santa Teresa is a really pretty area to stroll around.

We can warmly recommend this little hotel. The staff will make you feel at home!

Room Tip: Try the pool at night. It's magical.

First time in Casa Amarelo but it felt like coming back to a place well known before. It´s all about the kindness and very friendly service of the Casa Amarelo and the charme of an old manor house. The owner of the Hotel converted the house in an gentle way into a large opening composition of new and fresh design with the collourful style of Brasil. The hotel is full of character and still gives you an idea of the generous living of wealthy european families in former times. Santa Teresa was always the preferred place for European people and their embassys. No wonder as Santa Teresa is ideally situated for trips throughout the city and the beaches of Ipanema and Le Blonde. Santa Teresa is totally different from other districts I´ve seen in Rio. With many nice bars and restaurants for the people from Rio and tourists like us. It´s save and provides you with everything you expect from Rio.

If you decide to stay at Casa Amarelo the spacious rooms in adition with the nice dining room, the small library (public Internet work place) and the awsome garden with spectacular views makes you feel very comfortable. The pool on the top of the garden is the icing on the cake.

Thanks to Casa Amarelo and your very warm welcome. It made my stay in Rio perfect. Obrigado!

Best,
Joachim from Frankfurt a.Main, Germany

During a long business trip in Rio I came across Casa Amarelo online and opted to stay there for a week to see what it was like. I was extremely pleased with what I found, so much so that I decided to stay an extra week. In fact I would have stayed longer, had not the hotel been already fully booked.

The staff are amazing and genuinely happy to serve and make the guests feel at home. Since I was away from home for an extended period I really appreciated the homely feel to the place and the home cooking, absolutely fantastic. It was like a home away from home.

Room Tip: The chalet is a little small, but all the other rooms are a very good size.

Casa Amarelo is great place to stay in Santa Teresa. You have to be careful at night in this area, like in much of Rio, but other than that we had a great time their. The breakfast was wonderful and relaxing by the pool a joy. The owner and staff were very helpful and professional. If arriving at night I'd recommend getting a pre-arranged taxi from the airport, as it's not easy to find but the cost was approximately double what we paid to go back to the airport in a standard metered taxi a couple of days later. There are lots of good restaurants in walking distance and the bus system was easy to figure out and very cheap. All in all a great place to stay.

Had a wonderful one week holyday in Rio.
News from Rio had worried us back in the States, must confess to had face our vacations in Rio with preoccupation. It was all but a moment. Excellent facilities, great view, and last, but certainly not least, superb service (Gonzalo, the local help, made it his mission to make sure we had the best of time. The wife actually cried when saying goodbye to Gonz. ). By the way, excellent English Gonz.
Do recommend.
