My husband, teenage daughter and I all enjoyed this class. Chef Simone is a wonderful storyteller, teacher and chef.
She had all 7 of us all help with different steps in cooking an appetizer of grilled halami cheese with guava jam, manioc with banana coins, seafood moqueca, and caipirinhas. We gained insight into the cultural history of Brazil.
The restaurant has a room a few steps up devoted to the cooking class. It was easy to find in the Centro district, a 25 minute cab ride from the Copacabana beach.
This was a nice highlight of our stay in Rio.

OMG - My wife and I attended Somine's class on January 2nd this year during our first trip to Brazil. She is a fabulous instructor and chef. She does a great job educating her students in Brazilian culture and history and how their cuisine had evolved. She's very entertaining and engages everyone to participate in cooking the meal that you will certainly enjoy when finished. Anyone who visits Rio, especially for the first time should take advantage of this outstanding experience. If you want to engage with one of the best chef's in Brazil, I highly recommend meeting the most personable professional I have ever had the opportunity to meet. Whether you are an Iron Chef or one of the worst cooks in the world - you will have a ph enomenonal experience.

We loved everything about this class! Simone our instructor was fantastic; enthusiastic, friendly and engaging. She made sure every student was involved in the class and made sure everybody was enjoying themselves! We were also made to feel at home right from the start, with an endless supply of ice cold bottled water (always refreshing in Rio), a caipirinha during class (a must try in Rio), and cold beers with lunch (a necessity in Rio!).

Not only did we learn to make a great Brazilian dish, moqueca, but we also received a great cultural lesson about Brazil and its people, through food. It was so interesting to learn about how the cuisine evolved throughout Brazil's history. Our only regret is that we hadn't taken this class earlier in our stay!

It was also very nice to sit down to lunch after the class and chat with other students and hear everybody's experiences in Brazil. We were especially lucky as our class was truly multicultural with 8 students from 6 different countries!

We were also emailed the recipes for the dishes the next day, so now we'll be able to impress our friends with some excellent, authentic, Brazilian cooking!

Come hungry, thirsty, ready to meet new people and ready to learn!

We spent a week in Brazil: history, sights, music, dancing, energy, beaches, art and culture. It is easy to be overwhelmed ... but nothing will be as memorable and enjoyable as a cooking class with Simone. She not only teaches cooking but dispenses insight, wisdom, and brings out the best in everyone. Her insights on cultures and people are refreshing. She is equal part cooking teacher, den mother, and dispenser of thoughtful wisdom. You will love a cooking class with Simone ... I guarantee it.
