After jumping between 3 different hotels over a long weekend over the Copacabana beach front, arriving at the Arena was a great surprise. The folks at the front desk were kind and attentive, expediting the check in process and picking a great room ( room ending with 07 ) with front view to the beach on a whole wall window. The room was new, clean, and well designed. Wifi was a bit on the expensive side but worked flawlessly and fast - a major problems on the other hotels where was cheap and really bad. Ultimately, to top the superb service and because of the rate I was paying (quite reasonable for the location but still not cheap) they waived the wifi fee for the stay.
If you are a business traveler they are the best value for money at that location!

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 7, 8 and 9 have beautiful beach views.

We stayed four nights at this hotel. The rooms are fairly standard and we had "glimpses" of the beach. Breakfasts were fairly basic although they have a fabulous bar and rooftop pool which were great. Chargeable Internet which really should be included in the room rate. Overall a nice stay.

The hotel is in a great location, right off Copacabana, though our room had a view of a building next to it. The room size is typical of a hotel, with not much extra room, but the bed was huge. There was decent wardrobe space. The room and hotel interior was a lot nicer than the outside of the building looked, with modern, good quality fittings.

The staff were very helpful in the hotel, giving good advice of local sights and food. The breakfast (included in the price) was a good variety of fruit and local breads, with option of some hot food such as scrambled eggs. It wasn't extensive but was a good variety.

On the top floor is a pool, gym and bar area. The pool isn't very big, and the gym was tiny, with no floor space (just 5 machines). It was adequate but I have seen better.

Overall it's well worth a stay here if you are in the area, due to its proximity to the beach and great service, with clean modern rooms.

The Arena was a pleasant surprise among Copacabana hotels because of its modern, clean and stylish decor. Not surprisingly, its one of the newest hotels, or rather one of that latest upgraded hotels. The decor is light and airy with built-in modular furniture in light wood tones. Bathrooms have glass tiles and standard Brazilian granites with glass walk-in showers. Floors are wood-grain laminates. Coupled with good lighting and minimalist design, the hotel looks and feels fresh. The internet is WIFI with a good consistent signal throughout the hotel. That however is where the positives begin to end.

Rooms and common areas are not equipped with north american plugs, so you will require adapters (if you forget one, tough luck -- none are available through the hotel). While the walls are thick and quite sound-proof. Personally I prefer softer beds and pillows, and the Arena's are unusually firm for a hotel. The bedding is clean but very thin - essentially a sheet with a bed cover. This would be ok, if it were not for the industrial AC which was impossible to decrease. If you turn it off, the room heats quickly and becomes very humid. The workout room is characteristically small and has the usual machines. The roof pool is very small but there is a reasonable seating area with umbrellas and a basic bar. I did not try the dinner menu at the restaurant (it was virtually empty, despite the hotel being full). The breakfast was by far the worst in any Copacabana hotel. One person attended the entire restaurant, so table service was virtually non-existent. The buffet was essentially fruits, store bakery sweets and buns, and a plate of scrambled eggs and sausages. The fruitjuice was store-bought and tasteless... very unsual for Rio where the standard is fresh-squeezed. Coffee was from a dispenser. POOR...

The hotel does not have hotel cars, but can order a radio-taxi (ie. Transcootour) if you are willing to wait up to 20 mins, but the rates will be high (ie. ~R$100 to the airport) compared to a non-regulated car service offered by competing hotels(ie. ~R$45 - R$60).

This is not the best choice for a business hotel, despite the very nice decor and quiet rooms. However, if you are a tourist and not terribly particular, the Arena is a good choice and offers competitive pricing. It seems to be very popular with 40 - 60 year old European travelers. I would stay again, but it would not be my first choice.

Hotel located on the Beach of Copacabana. I was upgraded on arrival with a sea view room which gives you great view of Copacabana beach.
Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful with very good level of English. The rooms are nice and more like Business Type hotel decoration. Although i was a bit worried with the beds looking at the reviews here, I slept very well and did not find the bed too hard, it was in fact perfect. The breakfast is included in the room rate and is served in the hotel restaurant and is very good with a lot of choice.
Safety in Copacabana is no more an issue it seems as there are a lot of Police around.... You indeed feel quite safe walking around.

Room Tip: Higher floor gives a better view on the beach

Comparing to other hotels in Rio, this is definitely as good as it gets. We were advised not to stay in copacabana, that it can be dangerous at night, but Arena hotel is an oasis or peace and tranquility. Very modern, clean and stylish. It totally corresponds its 4* rating by european standards, not like many other south american hotels. The rooms are spacious, with great decor and nice amenities. Staff were indeed very professional and helpful. Breakfast restaurant offers a huge variety of foods and the pool bar on the top floor is a really nice place to enjoy the views of the busy beach in front and beautiful Rio sunset. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floors are quieter and have amazing views
