This beach is definite proof of one thing. People in Rio or Brazilians in general love their beaches. Though right next door to Copacabana not to be over looked. They have good life guard facilities and the beach had volley ball and foot ball nets setup much better than Copacabana.

“Best kept secret.....not anymore!”
Reviewed 10 April 2014 via mobile

Frequented by more locals than tourists. Two main buses go there. On reaching the last stop, you will come to a military fort. Be prepared for an 800m cobbled stone path that leads to stunning views! (Third highest view point after Cristo Redentor and Sugarloaf)

Only R$4 entrance.

We loved it. The walk was peaceful too. Guide books really do not do this place justice.

Worth a visit. Go see the fort and the trail around the rock, close to the ocean. Fantastic district with great restaurants and awesome beach. Go! =)

“Copacabana's residential extension, you go to Rio for that?”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

That corner is nice. Feels a little cleaner than the rest of the Copa but there is nothing else other than taking the walk from back to back (Leme is on end of Copa`s beach) and that is pretty much it. If you are a not a tourist or want some really laid back experience of Rio, think of "Leme"

“As the beach, a bit better than Copacabana”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

But not much more. A few bars and restaurants, some rodizio places, one nice italian restaurant that belongs to a former Red Brigade, and that's it.
