Tried the food while listening to the performers: menu is limited and more bar style than restaurant.
Not bad, not awesome as well... If you are hungry while listening to the music it will not harm you to have a bite

The place is amazing - beautifully decorated, huge but cozy at the same time. Music is just fantastic and you will find yourself dancing Samba, no matter if you have never had any clue of how that is supposed to be done! It's a fun place, with any kind of people (lots of tourists but most are locals) of any kind of age.
Just one suggestion: eat before you go there, food quality is the only negative thing I could mention.
Go there for drinks and music, and you'll spend a wonderful evening!

I read a few reviews about the never-ending lines to get in... We were also there during the World Cup (the day Brazil tied Mexico, no less, so we were expecting long lines also) but everyone may have been partying elsewhere, for the line was no more than 20-30 people! It was closer to midnight, so that may have played a part.

But the place was fantastic. Samba band downstairs, a very unique ambiance and decor all the way around and the next two levels were just lively. I hear it used to be an antique place that started having bands play on weekends (they moved the furniture/antiques to make room for the audience).... Then little by little it evolved in what it is today.

It's a must if you're in Rio. Sure, Lapa can be a bit cheesy, but this place is not. Enjoyed it very much!

In the old centre of down town Rio. Having booked in advance on a Saturday evening our party was well advised as the queue went around several blocks. The restaurant and nightclub areas are tardis (Dr Who) like which not only is a five storey building from the frontal aspect but inside the nightclub area occupies a reach into several other tiers of the block of neighbouring buildings. The decor represents previous inhabitants of the building from a famous lady singer in the 1930's to an old chemist shop; an eclectic mix! The food is traditional Brazilian and cooked to a good standard. The atmos is alive, buzzing and plain vibrant. The sheer size of the operation is less than intimate but the party experience is well worth while.

We visited during the world cup and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We booked a table, easy to do through TripAdvisor and were sat right next to dance floor. We were very lucky to see a local couple dancing brilliantly together. It was like a show. We had great food, drinks and music.
Throughly recommend
