Grand Portuguese colonial building , high up on the edge of Santa Teresa
The tram tracks were being repaired at the time, though look close to being finished, however at present is a bit of a steep walk.
The building occupies an excellent position having views over part of the city and can be viewed through mature trees and foliage which occupy the grounds of the hostel
It had a calm feel throughout
Metro is 15 minute walk
The immediate locale is unsafe at night and staff advised a taxi.
Cool bars and restaurants are 400 metres away at the top of the hill and this affords more excellent cityscapes
The staff were extremely helpful when we needed help with travel arrangements and went out of their way to assist, in fact using connections in a local travel agents to book us a flight and saving us money
We would strongly recommend this hostel and when the trams return it will add to the atmosphere
