Firstly I should say that we stayed over New Year and this is obviously one if not the busiest times of the year for the Hotel. On checking in were given our room key but no explanation about the hotel or the planned New Year Celebrations. We eventually established that there was no New Year Party being organised by the Hotel and just a DInner in the ground floor restaurant that included unlimited alcohol at a cost of 850 reals per person, great if you drink but no other options if you don't. With that in mind we decided to order room service and have Dinner in our room as we had a great view out onto Copacabana beach, I ordered this at 8pm expecting it would take some time to arrive, 9.30PM I called to find out they had lost our order and it would be another hour eventually at around 10.30 the sorriest looking room service I have ever seen arrived, I am really surprised a 4* hotel would serve such rubbish and charge the small fortune they did for it. In fairness the rest of food we experienced at the Hotel breakfast buffet was OK.
On the last day we discovered the Hotel had lounges and umbrellas on the beach, again frustrating no one had told us about this. The transfer we organised through the hotel to Buzios our next destination was a joke and I highly recommend you use an alternative. We were offered a private car at a cost of 550 reals and advised this was much better than a taxi as it was a luxury car and professional hotel driver who spoke English, this is quite a premium to taxi (300 reals) but as the journey is 3 hours we decided this was worth the extra cost. Imagine my annoyance when the same car as a taxi turns up to take us, I refused to take their car and said I would get a taxi, in the end they dropped the price to 500 reals and got us a different car, the driver didn't speak a word of english and got lost and spent an extra 30mins trying to find our hotel in Buzios. As I said at the beginning of my review this was over New Year and the hotel was extremely busy, on the positive side the staff were all very pleasant and friendly just disorganised, the roof top pool was amazing and had beautiful views of Copacabana beach and Sugar Loaf mountain.

Room Tip: Must have a beach view.

Dear Mr Mark N,

Thank you very much for your comments. They really help us to identify our failures and give us an opportunity to improve our services. About Room Service, in fact we had problems during that night. We did not expected too many requests at the same time that is why some requests were delivered late (we are working on it). What was a surprise for me were about some informations that you did not receive. Since the check in you should receive an information letter about everything that will happen during reveillon day/night (we also sent to the rooms once more). If the Front Office did not give you the letter in your check in, we put it inside the elevators (mirror). In the letter we are talking about how our services will be offer during Dec, 31st and Jan 01st. Overthere we also say about beach service. Inside the rooms we do have the directory where you could find all informations about our hotel and services. About the private car that you used to go to Buzios I had already called the Supervisor for this kind of service in order to see why they sent you another car instead of the one you reserve. This kind of service doesn´t belong to the hotel, but we offer it because we trust them. They normally do good services.
Mr Mark, once more, thank you to be our guest. We hope to see you soon and have a new chance to make better services for you.

We spent 10 days at this prime location hotel during new years eve. Hotel is well refurbished, staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast is great. The view from our beachfront room was stunning. Beach service- great. Yet two thongs spoiled our stay: strict policy dies not allow any visitors (my brother in law was not allowed to accompany us tl kur room), and we were charged for late checkout - half of daily rate( which was extremely high due to the "hot season" of new year) although when we left there was no reason to charge us for such rate- as new year was already over...

Dear Mr Dunietz,

First of all we would like to say "Thank You very much for your comments about our hotel and services". They really help us to make services better. About our "policy" we know that you were disappointed as your brother in law were not allowed to go to your room. I'd to explain you that was not because of your brother-in-law, but for security reasons we can not allowed anyone to go inside the building. So If we did an exception for you be sure that other guests could complaint about it. About the "half day charge", the Front Office really charged you half of the normal rate (not reveillon package rate) to stay until 06:00pm. Anyway, as you had stayed for ten days they could give you a free late check out, but I supposed they had the same problem, too many people asking for the same thing..late check outs. And it is not possible to do it for everybody as we have new check ins coming. So they were charging to avoid too many late check outs. Mr Dunietz be sure that we always try to do the best for all our guests but sometimes we can not. Thanks again for your words. We hope to see you in a next future!

Great location on Copacabana. Staff were polite and efficient. Breakfast was awesome. Rooms were large and well appointed. Staff on the beach were quick to get us set up on the sand with chairs and umbrella. They even catered well for our 18 month old.

It would want to be good considering the high room rate, but it was worth it in Rio.

We would stay again when returning to Rio.

My wife and I are still in the hotel and we conferm the high level of rating due to serveral reasons. The team is very professional and kind, always paying attention to you and your need. Breakfast excellent, good suggestions for tour of Rio and perfect location.
We will make the same choice in our future trips to this wonderfull city

We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas holiday in gorgeous Rio. The location is perfect - at the base of Copacabana, with a stunning view towards Pao de Azucar and Ipanema. The hotel is an easy, short walk to Ipanema, so beach choices are unlimited. The hotel itself is beautiful - newly finished, extremely modern yet comfortable in every way. The executive superior rooms front the hotel with gorgeous beach views - higher floors afford quiet and picturesque vistas. The team at reception could not be any nicer or more welcoming - they are all delightful, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about all facets of Rio. There is a beach assistant, so when you leave the hotel and arrive on the sand, there is a friendly face to get you a 'Miramar' beach chair and umbrella, planting you as close to the action as needed. The rooms are large and spacious, well airconditioned, silent and dark at night, bright and cheery during the day. Everything was spotless, elegant, and easy. The breakfast is fantastic - on the ground floor, with beautiful views to the early birds of Copacabana cycling, running, and rollerblading. The food is fantastic, plentiful, and delicious - fresh as can be, with so many pleasant staff on hand pouring coffee, and getting you anything to make you feel spoiled. The rooftop infinity pool is beautiful, with a full bar and food service - all very quick and easy as you gawk at the incredible beach scene stretching off for miles. There's a small gym, with cardio and some weights, just enough to get you going. This hotel is nirvana in Rio - from location, to creature comforts, to feeling spoiled and relaxed, to delicious food, to location and vistas, and most importantly, to an incredible, knowledgeable, professional group of people running the hotel. Juliana at reservations told me that they don't sell rooms, they sell dreams - for jaded travelers, this may sound 'too much', but it is TOO TRUE. Thanks to all for making our family trip so beautiful, with a very special thanks to Juliana again for all that she did to guarantee this on the front end! Miramar is hands down the best in Rio!

It was a primarily business trip to Rio with occasional beach visits and walks. So, perfect location front of Copacabana beach, rather close to Santos Dumont airport. Room was nice, good bed, normal speed internet. Very good breakfast, nice and fast room service. Has beach service with chairs and umbrellas, but not towels and bags storage. Beach towels are availiable from hotel reception, and are to be returned there to avoid US$50 penalty. On the first day had to go back to the reception. Nice lively area, with restaurants and shops around the corner. Another small negative was paid Nespresso mashine (next time I'll just take my own capsules) and absence of glasses in the minibar, except water glasses.
Bathroom was nice, with powerful shower, has shampoo and hair conditioner, body lotion, but not the shower gel. But soap was there, so this was manageble.
All in all - will be surely back. One has to keep in mind, that traffic along Copacabana (Av. Atlantica) changes direction on some parts of the day. Taxis are availiable from friendly bell stuff.

I stayed four nights - Christmas through 29th Dec. The hotel is centrally located on Copacabana close to Ipanema and is very clean and updated. Several reviews have already covered - champagne at check in, excellent breakfast, nice fluffy towels, courteous and friendly staff. Some specifics - my wife wanted a flask of hot water for tea every night and they delivered without any charge. Concierge/front desk provided good directions and input for activities and how to get around. Front desk staff spoke adequate English. The only real issues is the Wi-Fi - which is painfully slow. There are two levels of Wi-FI - free and paid. The paid is an exorbitant amount per day. The free is worse than dial in. Suggestion to management - either increase bandwidth/speed for the free or make the paid a reasonable amount per day. We stayed at a hotel in Foz Do Igaucu and the wifi was device specific and three days was only R$4.50 per device - which we were happy to pay for 3 days for 3. devices. Overall we were very happy with the hotel.
