I stayed at Miramar from May 23-28 and what a great hotel. My stay was pre-World Cup and I thought the location was great. It is directly across the street by beach marker 5 on the beach strip. It is located perfectly that you can identify your hotel location when walking. Also this is where the hotel has a tent set up for guest services for use of sun chairs/loungers. Nearby ( about a city block) there is a night market where you purchase your tourist items Monday - Saturday. Piece of advice is to buy your items here and don't get your hopes up at the Sunday Market aka "Hippie Market".

I had a beach view on the 10th floor that was simply marvelous. From my window we can see the beauty of Copacabana. The room was a great size. It was not an issue for me, but there is no tub just a shower stall. Great toiletries also. I love the sense of clean, and these rooms are truly that. Both bath and bed linen smelled super clean.

The hotel layout is simple. There is a great roof deck which serves great drinks and quick bites. The pool is small, but there is an entire ocean across the street. The fitness center located on the same floor is perfect size for a hotel.

We had breakfast included in the room package. Breakfast was great. Omelette station, a wide array of cereal, juices, cold cuts, cheese, breads and super fresh fruit were offered. The service staff was very attentative.

The lobby staff was by far the spotlight of this hotel. I do not speak a word of Portuguese, and didn't need to. The front desk, bell hop and security all spoke English. They were all very helpful. We bothered them a lot, and everytime they were very helpful.

Security is discrete, but very tight. I never felt unsafe in this hotel. Rio for the most part is safe as long as you walk on the strip and don't draw attention to yourself. It can be dodgy once you walk in the opposite direction of the beach. But you still can walk on the avenue to eat and buy water at the supermarket.

Copacabana and all of Rio is a city. It's a city by the beautiful beach, but still a very busy city. With that said you have to excercise caution. Do not draw attention to yourself by wearing flashy clothes, shoes, sneakers, jewelry, talking on your cellphone and simply acting like you do not belong there. Blend in, the locals are super laid back. There is no need to be flashy.

A WOW experience from start to finish! We loved our stay at the Miramar, it is a wonderful hotel, but what makes it stand out is the staff working there. The bellman escorted us to our wonderful room where sparkling wine, chocolates and water bottles were waiting for us to enjoy, all complimentary. A nice touch for a couple on their honeymoon! We would like to thank all the employees and pay special thanks to our STAR, Jairan Andrade. Jairan was so nice to us, he is the kind of person that makes an impression! Other employees that we would like to thank : Philippe at the pool who made sure that we found our way around the pool facilities and gave us good recommendations; Wendy, the hostess at the restaurant, who greeted us every morning by our names saying with a wonderful smile: “Hi Lucie & Fred”; Renato, the restaurant supervisor, who remembered what we liked and made sure that we had everything for breakfast, treating us like a queen and a king; Claudiano, a restaurant server, was also very special to us, he even took fresh face towels and fruit salads to us on the beach! Thanks again to everyone working at the Miramar for beeing so nice to us! The breakfast buffet is fantastic and the overall quality of the food is amazing! We highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

We have just returned from Rio back to London, and chose the Miramar as our hotel in Rio. We could have stayed at the Copacabana Palace (for slightly less) but don't enjoy huge hotel complexes, where film stars are treated like film stars, but everyone else impersonally. At the Miramar they understand what the personal touch means, and every single member of their staff treat you with polite, discreet respect, making you feel important and their guest. Alas, many hotels have lost the ability to offer this, Miramar I am glad to say understand the importance of looking after their guests. This was probably the most important element of our stay, from bell boy to room maid, front desk to restaurant, each and every member of the team, made us so welcome, and were so kind. Even the smallest request was met with a prompt response, in fact, nothing was impossible ! Nielto and Renalto at breakfast were so caring, always making sure our needs were met. Roberta at the front desk both charming and highly efficient.

We ate at the Sa restaurant twice whilst at the hotel. The food and wine were outstanding, by far some of the best we have enjoyed in many years of extensive travel worldwide. People claim it is pricey, but by London standards this was in fact cheap for us. The hotel breakfast is one of the best we have enjoyed, the variety mind boggling, the freshness unsurpassed. The egg chef can make your eggs in any style you like, all brought with a smile to your table.

The hotel is ideally situated facing Copacabana beach, but also minutes walk from Ipanema and Leblon beach, so you can enjoy the best of three world class beaches. Taxis are plentiful outside the hotel, and public transport nearby if required. A supermarket is literally minutes walk from your hotel and carries all kinds of amenities if you run out.

On the top floor is a lovely warm swimming pool with breathtaking views of the Copacabana Riviera, and a lovely seated area with bar. I would recommend at least a room with partial sea view, full if you really want luxury ! If you want the personal touch, this hotel has it in abundance, and comes highly recommended. All aspects for us scored full marks. We will certainly be back, to enjoy even more of this vibrant city. Obrigada Miramar !!

Room Tip: Partial (705) or if you can go for a full sea view.

This is one of the best places I have stayed in South America. Although there is little in the way of Rio charm, the hotel is exquisitely decorated and the rooms were of a good size for the city. The hotel was full and the lobby was always busy, but the service was quick and attentive. We were impressed that they could arrange a hotel car quickly to the airport during busy Gay Pride. The breakfast was probably the best part of the hotel - huge selection of all different types of food and drinks (including Champagne). The hotel is perfectly situated on Copacabana beach, and a short walk to Ipanema and Metro/Bus services. Make sure you have a drink on the roof terrace at sunset - the views are incredible!

My partner and I stayed at the Miramar by Windsor for 5 nights and we loved every second. The service is 5 star, all staff are so welcoming and friendly. We were upgraded to a partial sea view room upon check in (free of charge.) We only dined in the restaurant once because it is quite pricey, however the cuisine and view of Copacabana are phenomenal! Our room was spacious with a king bed, desk and sitting area. Try to avoid the minibar as it is also quite pricey. I was lucky enough to spend my 21st birthday during our stay and the staff ensured that I had a magical day- starting with a passionfruit slice at breakfast, plus Chandon champagne and chocolate at noon (free of charge.) The rooftop pool/bar on the 16th floor was our favourite feature of the hotel. The view is AMAZING! The pool is a good size and there is plenty of seating. The bar has an excellent drink menu and open until 12pm each night. The buffet breakfast was another highlight for us, featuring everything you could imagine (including an omelette bar!) I LOVED our stay at Miramar by Windsor and we will be sure to return as it is well worth the money!

We recently stayed at the Miramar with our two children and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, in part because of the beautiful location, accomodations and amenities, but even more so because of the lovely staff in all areas of the hotel from the bellmen, reception and concierge to the pool and beach attendants. Everyone was so warm and friendly, and they truly seemed to want to make our stay a great experience. They were so helpful in planning our tours and in their restaurant suggestions, which is of course a little bit more complicated when traveling with children! They even held our kids' beach toys until our return while we traveled to another state briefly.

The breakfast service each day was fantastic, as well as the poolside bar and café. The rooms were modern and clean, with bathrooms that were well appointed with all you might need. Our kids loved the nightly chocolates left on the beds! We all loved the location on Copacabana Beach...the waves and the view were spectacular. We cannot say enough good things about the Miramar. When we are fortunate enough to visit Rio again, it is certainly where we will stay.

My experience in Brazil is that hotels are not up to international standards. I have stayed at Hiltons, Radissons and Sheratons and the interenational chains are much worse in Brazil than elsewhere.
The Miramar is the best hotel I have stayed in Brazil (but not the best compared to most countries). The Miramar hotel has attentive staff and nicely appointed rooms. The breakfast is ample and great fruit selection. The rooftop pool is small but perfect for a small break. Location is good on Copacabana.
After a two week stay three complaints: My biggest complaint is the rooftop bar service. Very slow (even when there is nobody there). It did not happen to me but the other two people I was traveling with complained that the fire alarm has a red flashing beep that is very annoying when you want to sleep. (I think it beeps when it is running out of battery). Lastly, the mini-bar fridge is very noisy, I just unplugged it so no biggie.

Room Tip: Becareful with room 1312. When it rains it gets very noisy.

Dear Mr Santotanto,
It was a great pleasure to have you and your friends as our guest. Thank You to call our attention for such services that is going not so good. I had already began a training with our swimming pool bar staff in order to make better services over there. About fire alarm beep it is not a low battery, it is really like that, but, we are studing a way to change it. And for the last one we are check all mini-bar fridge inside the hotel to see what is happening with them. Once more, thank you for the praises about our hotel. We hope to see you again.
