The hotel was ok. Room was fine and location was good. However, I was disappointed with it considering how much we had to pay. My expectations were for a much nicer hotel and much better service. This is not the first time this has happened to me at an Accor hotel.
I have stayed at this property 4-5 times previously and it was always a so-so, but not bad, experience. This past visit was terrible. I was not allowed to check in until after 4 p.m. despite having Gold Status with the Accor Chain. Once I checked in, I discovered there were no hand towels, tissues, or toilet paper in the bathroom! The dishes in the kitchenette area were left dirty in the sink two days in a row. There was no extra electrical outlet in the main living area, which meant one cannot plug in a laptop and watch TV at the same time! (What is it with Brazilian hotels and no electrical outlets -- it's the 21st century!). The breakfast, which is not cheap, is also not very good, especially by usually very high Brazilian standards. This was my last stay at this property.
Stayed here two different years for new years and this would be my first choice in Rio again when I go back. It's in Arpoador so within a few minutes on foot either right or left you're on Copacabana Beach or Ipanema Beach. A couple of nice shops, cafes, restaurants just outside. The rooms are large with a small kitchen, sitting room, sat. tv, free internet and a bedroom (also with a tv), Air conditioning in both the main room and the bedroom so the room stays nice and chilly if you want. Rooms also have a balcony and there is a small lap pool too which is nice after a day at the beach. Great for couples, families or even a group of friends as two could stay in the bedroom and two on the pullout couch. Stayed at other hotels around the same price around Arpoador and this was the best for price and modern quality (and Rio isn't cheap) and would stay here again without a doubt!
A great location, right between Ipanema and Copacabana Beach. Close to restaurants. Quality of hotel is OK, we had some incidents with a water leakage on the 4th floor, an exploding lamp and a safe that was out of order, but the hotel was very efficient and fixed everything right away. The staff was the best staff ever, they help you with anything, and are very friendly and professional. Nice rooms with a separate living area and living room. Value for money! If I come back to Rio I will choose this hotel again! The staff was great especially Bruno! He was REALLY funny!
