“Excellent location - old hotel”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

Location is prime, it's the tallest building on Copacabana (at one end though, so be prepared to walk some distance if you want to go to the other end!).
There are 2 pools, one on a low floor, in the shade in the morning, and another one (small) on the roof, with a view over the beach and the mountain. Can get very hot.
Breakfast room overlooking Copacabana, with the classic international buffet.
The rooms are very average, furniture would need an upgrade (old fashioned, even if in good shape).

Room Tip: Was in room 1514 - direct view over Copacabana beach, and as far as can be from the lifts.

Stayed at the Windsor Atlantica for two nights in April on business travel. The hotel itself isn't terribly remarkable in terms of furnishings or luxury. It's not bad and has been updated in the past couple years, but it's nothing spectacular. Nice views of Copacabana beach. Definitely visit the rooftop pool and bar area.

The only element that I found exceptional was the service. Every hotel employee I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and very responsive. Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to Rio. Also, take a cab to have dinner at Sushi Leblon, definitely worth it.

Overall stayed at hotel for nearly a month. First experience checking into hotel was not good as manager was extremely unhelpful had to drive around for 15 minutes Trying to get cash to pay taxix as hotel would not exchange my currency. The room had nice view but had to pay a lot for slow Internet connection which didn't always work. Overall staff were not that friendly and English speaking lacking. Tried to overcharge me for bill at checkout. Laundry charges exorbitant. Spa experience was also mediocre. The one good thing was the breakfast.

Overall hotels in rio were also very disappointing for a city hosting Olympics and world cup shortly.
Overall hotels in rio are extremely disappointing for a big city.

Sitting on a prime location right across from Copacabana beach, the hotel is very well managed, with fast check in, squeaky clean if somewhat small rooms, and a very good breakfast buffet.

The hotel feels more like a Grand Central Train station. Hordes come in & out all the time, filling the lobby with tons of suitcases, airline crew, Tour buses, spewing 100's into the lobby, lending an uncomfortable somewhat claustophorbic feel to the lobby.

Howvever you are not in Rio to linger in the hotel. The beach is right across; Ipanema is a leisurely 15 minute walk, and everything else is a short Taxi ride away with Sugar Loaf a10 minute drive, and Cocovardo and Santa Theresa 30 minutes.

A great Concierge service, with special thanks to Dario who was great in making reservations at top quality restaurants.

If you are on a business trip then you can't get better. However of you are in Rio for a Vacation, then go somewhere else!

Room Tip: Ask for beach front!

Stayed here for ten days in Jan this yr. The rooms are a bit underwhelming compared to the lobby and a trip around three different tiers (i eventually ended up in a superior deluxe i think) showed that the price differential was only for a change in view (beach or not...), the rooms themselves are all practically identical. Once used to that its ok - a pretty efficient and clean place with a great location right on the beach and ok-ish restaurants inside. Breakfast was good - the fresh fruit excellent - but evening buffer was so so. But a couple of very good local restaurants around the block made this not an issue. The gym was ok but the roof top pool was excellent. All in id stay there again but don't expect a Four Seasons!

Great place to stay in Rio, convenient location, recently renovated, and fantastic staff. Spa was average but everything else was top notch. Staff was great always there to take care of all your needs. The beds weren’t the greatest, but then again, who’s sleeping in Rio. I would definitely book this hotel again when in Rio.

Room Tip: Get a corner room so you can see the beach and up and down the strip.

What a great location! And from the roof the view was wonderful. The staff were great; very helpful and friendly. Minus points were a very average evening buffet in the 4th floor restaurant, and all the facilities were so much less than the price would suggest. Definitely stay, but don't pay full price.
