Stayed in Rio for business for 3 nights, very impressed with the hotel from check-in all the way to check-out.

The hotel is in a great location just on Copacabana Beach, with the beach 3 minutes walk from the front of the hotel (you need to cross a main road to the beach but simple and safe). There is good parking, valet service and bell hops to take your luggage.

All staff were friendly, one thing you can't fail to miss are the dozens of security camera's (and associated security staff) which ensures a great level of safety for you and your belongings. Once checked-in via the english speaking staff, it was off to the room. Mine was on the 21st floor, plenty of lifts and the entire hotel is very well decorated. I had a twin room on a corner so I had a beach view and side view to Sugar Loaf Mountain.

The room was immaculate, not huge but a good size and plenty of storage. The Aircon / TV / Mini Bar and other info was in good condition/stocked. The bathroom was clean, nicely decorated and the shower was amazing! very powerful jets, plenty of hot water.

The rooms are nicely laid out, I found the stay in the hotel incredibly quiet for nighttime / evening and got a great sleep. Which is rare as Brazillians are generally very noisy when walking about and was pleased for such great sleep in a busy city.

The hotel can arrange nearly anything for you, there is free Kayaks, Sailing, Beach Chairs and many other activities (some you need to pay for like scuba diving). Plenty of tours to every part of Rio, definately recommend the usual "Christ the Redeemer", "Sugar Loaf" and I also went to a Favela tour behind Ipanema Beach which was very interesting. Some of the Favela's are now very safe for tourists (some on the south side are NOT and should be avoided). I went with a local tour, so you view the "slums" (note: many people in the favelas are local workers, rooming to avoid travelling from further away, they have free electicity from the Government so you'll see a lot of satellite dishes and flat screen tv's in some of them!). Met the locals and saw one of the best Samba shows in Rio in the Favela..

Only used the hotel for breakfast as there are too many other places to visit for other meals. Breakfast was great though, plenty of choice. The hotel attracts a number of VIP guests, so dont be shocked to be a table from a well known footballer / presenter etc.

The pools were fine for the hotel, the infinity pool on the roof is worth a visit but not to swim in.. The 4th floor pool is fine, but if you can swim then head to the sea (but be careful as the currents are quite strong).

The local area is fairly safe between 10am - 10pm, the local HSBC bank about 100metres from the hotel (turn right when leaving hotel and cross two roads) is reliable and safe. After 10pm I would not recommend walking far from the hotel, a couple of German and Dutch colleagues were pick pocketed by a group of hookers as they walked the beach path late at night. (The girls crowded around them, touching the guys and as they automatically went to push them away, other girls whipped their iphone's / wallets etc from pockets).. They said it happened so fast and the girls disappeared, yet the pimps went up to them and demanded cash for touching the girls :-) So use common sense and use taxi's or remain in the bars in viewable distance from the hotel.

If you do head out to other bars, keep an eye on your drinks tabs there is a lot of sharking going on and your 4 drinks may come to 9 drinks on your bill if you are counting.. Welcome to Rio!! lots of friendly people but look after your possessions and keep alert.

Finally Internet is available in the hotel but is 35rias per 24 hours and that was about 7 times more expensive than any other hotel in Brazil!

Room Tip: If you can get a sea facing room or corner room towards Copacabana Beach then you will be very happy...

My first time in Rio de Janeiro and the Windsor Atlantica gave a very good impression of the city. Located right in front of the Copacabana beachfront, it provided a convenient access to the walking/jogging path along the beach. Service was excellent in the hotel including the dining rooms. Rooms were very spacious and provided a great view of the beach since its right at the corner of the main beach avenue and a major street. I would definitely go back and stay in this
hotel.
We were a group of Asian tourist on a Tour of South America and all of them agreed this is the best hotel among the ones we stayed in South America (Peru, Argentina,Brazil, Chile).

Room Tip: higher floors would be better to avoid noise from the street traffic. Rooms facing the beach would...

Ok, it's not often that you go on vacation and stay at the very same hotel as a Prince. Yes, Prince Harry - THE Prince Harry - was staying at the very same hotel during my stay AND I got to see him! But that doesn't impact my ratings :-) But it does give you a pretty good indication of the type of hotel this is. Situated right on the far end of Copacabana Beach, this is a high rise style hotel. Two pools, one smaller one on the roof but with AMAZING views of both the beach, SugarLoaf and Corcavado. And a larger on down on one of the lower floors. Beautiful views from the Breakfast restaurant and lots of restaurants within walking distance.

I was staying here on a company trip and the hotel did an amazing job accommodating our large group. The rooms were nice, but not overly luxurious - not like an American style luxury room. But overall very comfortable and clean. My room had no view though, I looked straight in to another building, so I assume there are many rooms that have the same issue. Luckily I was not there to sit in my room and look out the window, when there is SO many amazing things to see and do right outside.

Overall an wonderful experience!

Stayed there for a week due to business. To be honest I had higher expectation than the reality was. In general the location was excellent, just by the beach, everything needed was close by. The standard room was spacious with very comfortable bedding! Everything needed was available, so the room gets high rating for sure! And the view from 37th floor room was just breathtaking!
The pool was an awful dissapointment. The best place to enjoy the sun, was the rooftop and the pool there was rediculosly small. There was one also on lower floor but it had huge windows to the restaurant (people looking at you all the time) and lots of noise from the street.
Breakfast was very good, lots of different varieties. Lunch buffee was also great, lot's to eat and hard to choose :)

Location is prime, it's the tallest building on Copacabana (at one end though, so be prepared to walk some distance if you want to go to the other end!).
There are 2 pools, one on a low floor, in the shade in the morning, and another one (small) on the roof, with a view over the beach and the mountain. Can get very hot.
Breakfast room overlooking Copacabana, with the classic international buffet.
The rooms are very average, furniture would need an upgrade (old fashioned, even if in good shape).

Room Tip: Was in room 1514 - direct view over Copacabana beach, and as far as can be from the lifts.

Stayed at the Windsor Atlantica for two nights in April on business travel. The hotel itself isn't terribly remarkable in terms of furnishings or luxury. It's not bad and has been updated in the past couple years, but it's nothing spectacular. Nice views of Copacabana beach. Definitely visit the rooftop pool and bar area.

The only element that I found exceptional was the service. Every hotel employee I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and very responsive. Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to Rio. Also, take a cab to have dinner at Sushi Leblon, definitely worth it.

Overall stayed at hotel for nearly a month. First experience checking into hotel was not good as manager was extremely unhelpful had to drive around for 15 minutes Trying to get cash to pay taxix as hotel would not exchange my currency. The room had nice view but had to pay a lot for slow Internet connection which didn't always work. Overall staff were not that friendly and English speaking lacking. Tried to overcharge me for bill at checkout. Laundry charges exorbitant. Spa experience was also mediocre. The one good thing was the breakfast.

Overall hotels in rio were also very disappointing for a city hosting Olympics and world cup shortly.
Overall hotels in rio are extremely disappointing for a big city.
