“Excellent location”
Reviewed 13 December 2013

We had a lovely room with an Ocean view over Copacabana beach within easy taxi access of the centre and Ipanema. The breakfast was very good but food from room service wasn't and it was expensive. Some of the staff were very helpful and friendly but reception was always busy so check out took a long time. The Internet connection was also an issue because WiFi was limited unless you paid for it, not what I would expect in a four star hotel. We have just spent five weeks in South America and this was the only hotel that charged for Wifi.

Room Tip: We were on the 27th floor with an Ocean view and it was excellent

Not much to add to previous reviews. It's my 2nd time here, and each visit is better than the previous one. their beautiful rooms, amazing breakfast, superb location and above all the helpful staff really make it the top choice hotel in Rio.

One of our group member's cameras was missing. without hesitation, they called our bus, and were relentless until it was found. They were helpful with all our requests, and were really amazing.

My room, 3205, was overlooking the beach, as well as the city and the granite cliffs overshadowing it. I could enjoy sunrises and sunsets on and off the beach, and that was really a boost to the overall complete satisfaction from the hotel.

I enjoyed my time at the Windsor Atlantica. It was in a great location on the seafront at Copacabana Beach and close to the Riosul Mall and a quick taxi ride to the Centro.

The hotel seems popular with cruise passengers and tour groups and the lobby is always bustling. I found that check-in and check-out took a while, but staff were very courteous and eager to help.

Breakfasts were good buy busy, and as is often the case, the pools on the 4th floor and rooftop were not as glamourous or big as they looked in the promotional photos!

Room Tip: Great views of Copacabana beach can be had from rooms on the high floors.

The rooms are dated; the water is super chlorinated; the staff are snobby and indifferent; the energy in the hotel is awkward. There were four of us and not once did we feel welcome and appreciated. The breakfast was good and it's close to Copacabana beach (across the street).

I thought I reviewed well but this place was just a big convention type of hotel. The location didn't suit our needs either. We should have stayed on Ipanema instead where all of the night life is etc. Had to take Taxi where we wanted to go. Room was standard and bathroom tiny! Good bed and quiet. we had a view. they said they were upgrading us but their idea of that is you have a view forward instead ot Rt or Lt- you can see the beach from all angles. The included breakfast was very good but packed with noisy business people. We ordered lunch at poolside but the waiter didn't have a clue of what we wanted. Brought one thing and not the second order. For a hotel of this calibre I think the waiters should speak fair English. Look somewhere else for a more satisfying place to stay in Rio.

Room Tip: They are all the same - more or less for the view.

Just in front of the beach.. I loved our room with a beautiful ocean view. The Windsor Atlantica has an awesome rooftop pool, along with a second pool at the lower levels. Average breakfast , service was good. But most importantly is the location right in the Copacabana, cannot beat the location!

I stayed at this property for 2 weeks this November on a business trip.
The room: good size and well-equipped, although I could have wished for a couple more power outlets. Lots of closet space. The bedroom provides both 110V and 220V outlets. My room was on the 29th floor, overlooking the ocean - the view was incredible! The A/C wasn't too loud, and didn't turn the room into an ice box (although I'm sure it can if that's what you like). Alternatively, the window actually opens, and the breeze from the ocean is often enough to cool the room. The bathroom was on the small side, but more than adequate. The shower doesn't leak all over the floor and has excellent water pressure. The turndown service leaves chocolates on your pillow every night. Yum!
Breakfast: the breakfast buffet is fabulous. Lots of fresh fruit, a huge selection of bread and pastries, warm offerings are both standard eggs and bacon, and Brazilian specialties. There's even miso soup, steamed vegetables and rice. They make you omelets and crepes to order.
Reception: helpful and efficient.
Rooftop pool/bar: again - what a view! The 39th floor rooftop terrace doesn't even get that busy, so a great place to just hang out and enjoy the sunshine. I didn't check out the 4th floor pool. The hotel also provides beach service - go to the Windsor Hotels booth on the beach right in front of the hotel, give them your room number, and they'll set up a sun lounger, umbrella and beach towel for you wherever you want.
Gym: clean and well-appointed, mostly empty.
I didn't try any of the restaurants or the downstairs bar. My only complaint was that after spilling some cashew nut crumbs on the floor on my first night, I watched them migrate over the floor for five days before housekeeping finally swept them up.
Also, the area of Copacabana the hotel is situated in isn't the best - the other end of Copacabana, or Ipanema would definitely be better and provide more variety (at better value) in terms of restaurants and bars.

Room Tip: Higher is better - the view is fantastic and you can open the window without any concerns for safety...
