“Poky room, business hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 December 2013

We were truly disappointed by the poky bedroom and tight bathroom. No view except of next door building. Breakfast was good, rooftop pool area nice (but too windy when we there - December). Overall, it smacked of a business, functional hotel. No character or soul. It was well located and on Copacabana beach - however, if I were to come to Rio again I would head for Ipanema or Leblon - much nicer areas. Cheap cabs everywhere but so much traffic.

Room Tip: A standard double is poky, small, cramped - so buy big!

Situated right across the street from Copacabana Beach, I had beautiful views of sunrise over the beach and mountains. Rooms are nicely decorated but not special. Surprised that there was no coffee maker in the room.

Breakfasts have an impressive variety, and like other meals in their dining rooms, it is mainly buffet. Quality of food is quite good but not too complex. Service in the dining room was very good.

In general the quality of the service was quite good. People were very helpful. Internet was variable quality and not much in English on the TV, but why stay in the room with the beach just across the street?

Not a cheap place but with the money easily.

This property provides a clean, safe and well located base from which to carry out your business in the city or have a beach/sightseeing vacation.

Pre stay communications with the Concierge to secure a car from the airport were slow, however the car provided was ample. On any future trip I'd simply take a taxi from the airport for half the price.

I arrived from an overnight flight from Germany at 7am and was pleasantly surprised to learn upon arrival at the hotel that not only was my room available, but I'd been upgraded to the Windsor Club with private check in and amenities such as complimentary internet.

The room itself was modern in design, the bathroom was excellent and provided all features you'd expect from a similar star rated European or US property with a major brand. Where the Hilton's cannot compete however is the stunning views from both the bedroom and the bathroom with were breathtaking.

Breakfast was ample, some local favourites mixed with international standard fayre. It was fine and there was something for most tastes.

Leisure facilities in the form of a small rooftop plunge pool and 4th floor pool were good if not a little dated. The bars at both lacked atmosphere and I can only suggest the hotel is missing out on a opportunity here. I did not try the spa so cannot comment.

We had dinner one evening in the ground floor restaurant which was very good and for a upmarket hotel, very reasonable.

Outside the hotel, as long as normal precautions are taken, I think you're as safe as you're going to be in this city.

Rio is a beautiful place with some spectacular scenery that has to be seen to be appreciated. The Windsor provided a good base and it will certainly be up there in my list for my next visit.

We had a lovely room with an Ocean view over Copacabana beach within easy taxi access of the centre and Ipanema. The breakfast was very good but food from room service wasn't and it was expensive. Some of the staff were very helpful and friendly but reception was always busy so check out took a long time. The Internet connection was also an issue because WiFi was limited unless you paid for it, not what I would expect in a four star hotel. We have just spent five weeks in South America and this was the only hotel that charged for Wifi.

Room Tip: We were on the 27th floor with an Ocean view and it was excellent

Not much to add to previous reviews. It's my 2nd time here, and each visit is better than the previous one. their beautiful rooms, amazing breakfast, superb location and above all the helpful staff really make it the top choice hotel in Rio.

One of our group member's cameras was missing. without hesitation, they called our bus, and were relentless until it was found. They were helpful with all our requests, and were really amazing.

My room, 3205, was overlooking the beach, as well as the city and the granite cliffs overshadowing it. I could enjoy sunrises and sunsets on and off the beach, and that was really a boost to the overall complete satisfaction from the hotel.

I enjoyed my time at the Windsor Atlantica. It was in a great location on the seafront at Copacabana Beach and close to the Riosul Mall and a quick taxi ride to the Centro.

The hotel seems popular with cruise passengers and tour groups and the lobby is always bustling. I found that check-in and check-out took a while, but staff were very courteous and eager to help.

Breakfasts were good buy busy, and as is often the case, the pools on the 4th floor and rooftop were not as glamourous or big as they looked in the promotional photos!

Room Tip: Great views of Copacabana beach can be had from rooms on the high floors.

The rooms are dated; the water is super chlorinated; the staff are snobby and indifferent; the energy in the hotel is awkward. There were four of us and not once did we feel welcome and appreciated. The breakfast was good and it's close to Copacabana beach (across the street).
