Stayed here November of last year during my vacation in Rio. Hotel staff was super helpful and all spoke English. Concierge booked us for multiple tours which were excellent. Amenities were excellent, had free breakfast buffet Monday thru Friday which was outstanding. The hotel provided free towels and beach umbrellas at Copacabana right in front of the hotel. Didn't get to swim the pool or work out in the gym because I was at the beach all week long... the hotel rooms were excellent, had an ocean view of Copacabana. This is pretty much as good as it gets and is definitely 5 star quality. A bit expensive but with all of the services and free breakfast buffet it was totally worth it. People say this is the most expensive hotel... WRONG. There were a couple others that were more expensive than the Windsor Atlanica such as the Miramar or Copacabana Palace Hotel... I walked into the Copacabana Palace Hotel and it did look like a palace right on the beach but there were a ton of old people there, and it wasn't a high rise hotel so I assume not many rooms have an ocean view. The Windsor is a high rise so there are a ton of rooms that have an ocean view, it is truly breathtaking waking up to such beauty every morning.

Room Tip: get a room higher up and ocean view, you won't be disappointed.

Fortunately I got this on a hotel discounter since the cruise company wanted $650 for the first night and $400 per night (1 person) thereafter. It was just the day after New Year's Day but it is the high of summer and many, including me, love this high rise hotel. I paid about $300 per night
(the most I have ever paid) at the discounter. The extremely friendly deskman put me on the 23 floor (since he said it was my first time in Rio) with a room facing the entire extent of Copacabana beach. The view alone was worth the price to me. I could have done nothing else but look out all day and night. The room was quite ordinary but who cares. It included an amazing breakfast on the top floor with a spectular view only a little high up. The breakfast bufftet could not have been better. I ate breakfast in this twice and had a wonderfullly expensive dinner buffet here once in the evening. They had an acclaimed chef and Italian resurant on the first floor which I did not try since I was about to leave on a 14 day cruise. This hotel deals in large groups so you may have to wait in lines to check in and out. I solved the later problem by checking out at 9am when there were no lines but asked to keep the room until noon which was the check out time. They just asked that I leave the room key somewhere. The bellman arranged a car from the hotel to the cruise port for only $5 more than a usual taxi. You were able to pay the amount at checkout and have your own private transportation at exactly the time specified--you only had to give the driver a receipt and a tip (if you wished). An
outstanding Rio hotel with high security presence! Necessary these day. I did walk across the street and dip my toe, it turned out to he up to the knee, in the polluted water. It looks great but which you get up close it was an artificial green which look either like dye or algae. I am guessing the later. In any case I would not put my body into it. I asked and a local told me that the Pope's altar was directly oppoitie this hotel this past Summer when he had Mass for a million youths on the beach!

Room Tip: Facing Copcabana obviously and the higher the better for the view!

This high-rise hotel is located in the northeastern part of Copacabana Beach. Its location is very good, providing access to all that Copacabana Beach offers. Check in was very courteous and efficient, with good information about the services of the hotel and points in the immediate area. There was no problem with communication in English. The hotel has excellent security, at its street entrance and inside the hotel. I felt very safe there the entire time. My room was located on the 19th floor. It was a corner room facing the main side street, and the hills behind the beach. However, it did provide a great view of Copacabana beach as well, even from this side location. The room was very tastefully furnished, spacious, with a comfortable bathroom which also had a window looking out on the hills behind the beach. I appreciated having both Brazilian and USA power outlets in the room – a welcome addition for international travelers from the USA. An in-room security safe was also provided. Spacious closet for clothes and storage of baggage. Air conditioning worked efficiently and quietly, given the summer temperatures outside. It was also nice to have windows that actually open in the room. Room cleaning was done well each day.

The rooftop of the hotel (Floor 38) has a small outdoor pool and bar / café service. While it needs a bot of a makeover, it gave wonderful 360 degree views of the beach, Mt Sugarloaf, the Christ the Redeemer monument, and the city areas. Food prices at this bar are exorbitant. One would have thought that with coffee being a major product and export of the country, a mere cup of coffee would not break the bank. It just about does. The rooftop pool is small, but it was not crowded and a nice space to relax and cool off after the heat of the day. A second larger pool is located on the 4th floor – this was a little more crowded late in the afternoon, and I had to ask several times to have a towel provided. Breakfast was included in the room rate, and this was on the 4th Floor.

I thought the breakfast was great. The range of fresh as fresh fruits was excellent; supplies were abundant and there seemed to ongoing attention to refilling supplies. There was a variety of hot foods, breads, pastries and cold meats and cheeses, even the Brazilian Pão de Queijo. There was also an egg station for making omelet and eggs of all styles. Service was efficient and restaurant staff was so polite and helpful. It was a busy place, but there was no problem getting a table and enjoying all that was offered, including beach view. One surprising thing was that the exchange rate for USA to Brazilian Reals was better in the hotel than on the exchange places outside, and better than the airport. The side street (Av Princesa Isabel) of the hotel has ATMs, cafes, some good supermarkets, car rental agencies and pharmacy services. All a few minutes walk from the hotel. Lots of restaurants as you walk along the Copacabana Beach strip. The city area behind the beach also has all the shopping services, faces, supermarkets and the like, as well as many wonderful fresh juice bars. There is a metro station Cardeal Arcoverde which provides fast train services to the Centro area, and to Ipanema Beach. This is about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask about the kind of view you will get from your room.

We visited Windor Atlantica hotel in August 2013. After a 2 weeks in Brazil with a tour group, we decided to treat ourselves. The front desk staff was very friendly and we were given a room on the 35th floor with an AMAZING view of Copacabana beach. The room was 5-star quality. The laundry is very expensive (as expected). The rooftop hotel is ok..not very big but also has very good views. I'm very glad that we decided to stay there.

Room Tip: try to get higher up floors facing Copacabana beach

Stayed for a week with my wife.

Standard room in hotels of this category.Nothing stood out in my opinion.

The sound proofing was good. Or maybe because we were very high up. The breakfast spread had a very good selection of fruits. Welcome that alot.

Points to note - TV channels are predominantly in Portugese, staff predominantly speak Portugese, everyone predominantly speaks Portugese. So please brush up on your Portugese before you go or you will 'suffer' like we did.

The security of the hotel is very good. Never felt unsafe at all. The neighbourhood is fine in my opinion during the day but did not dare to venture out after nightfall due to the stories we heard on the security.

To the left of the hotel are 3 or 4 restaurants. Nothing spectacular but safe to walk to. Good introduction to Brazilian cuisine. Further up on the left, is a supermarket.

Concierge. He spoke French, German, Portugese, English, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and I lost count. I found all of them polite and gave very good recommendations on regardless anything i asked of them. Well done.

This was our second visit to Rio and my husband and I decided to stay in the Copacabana Beach area. The hotel has a prime location as it is situated across the street from the beach. It is however on the farther end of Copacabana, but there are restaurants and bars all within walking distance and the Rio Sul mall is a 5 minute taxi ride away.

We were upgraded to a corner, upper floor room with a spectacular view of Copacabana. The room was very clean with a fully stocked fridge, plush robes, safe, comfortable bed and strong air conditioning. The bathroom was big enough for both of us, along with great water pressure (shower) and a separate bidet.

The breakfast buffet is included in the room price and it was of great value with a variety of fruits, pastries, hot foods, juices and an egg/omelet station.

The rooftop pool is quite small and dated. The sundeck was small as well and could only accommodate no more than 8-10 people. However, the view from the rooftop is gorgeous and well worth visiting.

For a first time visitor to Rio, I would highly recommend this hotel to cover your bases in visiting all the tourist sites such as the Christ The Redeemer, Sugarloaf, etc.
