The hotel is very well located in Copacabana, the staff is very friendly, attentive, professional and speak English. Great breakfast with beach views. There's a pool bar on the top floor which is very pleasant and has great views from the beach, the Corcovado mountain and the sugar loaf. Amazing views from the room too. Well recommended!

Room Tip: There are corner rooms available with window so you have a great Copacabana Views from the bed! Othe...

Excellent location to enjoy Copacabana beach. Metro, bus and cabs easy to use and cheap. Hotel staff were happy to help with maps and advice. Breakfast, which spoilt you for choice, is on the 4th floor and looks out onto the beach. Beds were the most comfortable we have ever had. There are no hot drinks facilities in your room which was a disappointment. One criticism of the hotel is the two,VERY small, inadequate lifts, which serve numerous floors and you can wait for some 5 mins or so before one arrives. One morning we were aloud to use the staff elevator because of the queue in the breakfast room. (There didn't appear to be any stairs available to guests or we would have used them). Enjoyed the beach bars in the evening but be prepared to have an extra charge on your bill if they have entertainment. It wasn't a lot (about 10 rias - around £3) but they don't tell you upfront. We enjoyed our stay

We have been in this hotel for 3 nights. Large and clean rooms, some with a view on the ocean. Considering we were in Rio, where it is difficult to find a good hotel, this hotel deserves 5 stars, even if it should be rated 4. The breakfast war really good, the best one we had in Brazil. The reception is small and some rooms are noisy, but you can stay very good here. Pay attention to the prices: they can vary very much and can also double in few days! So it is better to book many months or weeks in advance

I picked Porto Bay Rio after I read on TripAdvisor that the Copacabana Hotel was under renovation (which is still going on). I wasn't disappointed at all. Although arriving early, the front desk located a room that was soon to be ready. My room was business like, average and very clean. The views from the rooftop pool are the best. The service in the hotel is top notch. I needed some sun screen and the bartender made a call to a bellman who walked down the block to a pharmacy and bought some. They weren't asked but did it on their own. I'd choose this again for a business trip but would probably stay elsewhere if I brought my wife.

So glad we booked this hotel! The initial view when we walked into the room was a real WOW - beautiful view along the beach and of Christ the Redeemer from the balcony. We were 18th Floor + a high floor will give you the best views, but we only had a side room + the view was impressive. Beds large and very comfortable, lots of storage space below the sink in the bathroom, powerful showers and great choice at breakfast. WiFi is 60 Reails for 3 days, which although an annoying charge is much less than some other hotels charge. We found this to be a good base for exploring Rio - buses go past the door to Ipenema, the metro is close, quick and cheap and cabs are plentiful and very cheap for us( compared to London prices!) We felt comfortable doing our own exploring for the most part, but if you want a guide or the security of a mini bus tour the hotel offers loads of tours for you to book. The pool on the roof although small is a great place to sit in the sun.

Porto Bay Rio International Hotel is right on the beach of Copacabana – PERFECT LOCATION

Our initial room reeked of cigarette smoke, and we requested a room change. Staff were very accommodating and completing this task.

Check in staff were more than helpful in providing information, Maps, and phoned tour providers upon our request.

Rooms were quiet large, and comfortable.

The building has 20 levels, (level 20 is the pool) with 2 tiny passenger lifts to service the whole building. Many times we had to wait up to 5 minutes for lifts to arrive, only to discover them full upon arrival to our 6th floor. Stairs were for fire use, and were possibly alarmed.

Wi-Fi internet came at a cost (Brazilian Real R60 for 3 days + tax), which now days should be complementary in all hotels, at this rate you would expect the internet to be fast however it was far from this.

Breakfast was included in our package, and oh what a lovely selection of food available, all to be complemented by a spectacular view of Copacabana Beach. It was a pleasure to spend an hour or so just eating. Staff in the restaurant were very helpful and cleared tables regularly. Food was constantly refreshed.

The Pool and Gym on located on level 20. Views of Copacabana Beach, Sugarloaf Mountain and the Christ Stature were breathtaking, both day and night.

We had quiet a pleasent stay, but the only down fall was the cost of the Internet.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms can see the Christ statue lit up at night

What a fabulous place. Booked as surprise for husbands 50th birthday. Porto bay was recommended by travel agent who had been there. It really stood up to expectations. Our room was clean and tidy, we didn't have a room at front f hotel, but still had a balcony. The breakfast was great, plenty of choice, and ideal views from window seats, watching locals run on the beach.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful, and most spoke several languages. The location of the hotel was excellent, right on copacobana beach, with great views from the roof top bar and pool, which was incidentally a greet place to be for coffee, or early evening drinks. The beach facilities were also excellent, with the hotels own area on the beach, with beds and towels, well staffed, and drinks available too. The car services and concierge were also very helpful and beyond expectations.
I would recommend the hotel to anyone. Felt very safe, ideal location, on the most stunning of beaches I have ever seen. Thanks to all staff for making the holiday so enjoyable, and to Jorge who took us on a memorable tour of sugar loaf and Christ the redeemer statue.
Make the most of the local area for eating and drinking, both copacobana and ipanema have great choices for food and drinks, don't be persuaded to go to leblon, quite pricey and less choice. Do go to lapa, for the real brazil!!

Room Tip: If you want the sea front room, it will be more xpensive, but standard room was more than acceptable...
